This is actually more or less what got me thinking about mid-pivot type bikes. It seemed like last season a lot of DH racers were using the O-Chain with their low pivot bikes. On top of that, in the past when I've ridden high pivot bikes, the first thing that I noticed was the lack of feedback you get through your feet in chundery/pitter pattery sections. It seemed to me that this lets you carry more speed. Then I started to wonder how much of the speed increase is from the axle actually moving rearwards, and how much of it...

I did like the old vids from EWS. But i think, as others have said, what kind of story do they(EWS) want to tell. I find that trying to compete with coverage, in time is not the way to go. The format does not lend it self to try to do a sort of DH coverage. The raw bits, interviews and squid-fun is way better. We, who love the sport and are total nerds, do not need the brake down of all the stages and sort of live through the stages. I think a lot of us read that through...

Good write up with tons of easily digestible info. Any input on wether the climb switch on Super Deluxe Ultimate is now less extreme? Sounds like it is changed but is it functionally changed?

The shocks look really good. I hope they keep their impressive reliability. I was hoping to see something about CSU durability improvements, though RS is better in this regard that the competition (low bar, this). Hydraulic bottom out on shocks, especially coil, is a huge win for a shock that isn't insanely priced! I wonder if the MRP or CaneCreek progressive springs will work on these.

Maybe the feel from the stock kinematic is more important than travel?

Good thoughtful discussion here, and it confirms some of my hunches about what was going on in reality with this lawsuit. I couldn't even read the PNW FB thread, it was a mess. I don't know the OR laws, but I've heard they're similar to WA where there's a big difference between paid access and free access, which falls under...
It's not too difficult.. I don't know about Oregon, but in California, the waiver isn't really worth the paper it's printed on..

I actually prefer the blacked out look of the performance elite. The kashima is gaudy in my eyes and the fact that the colour is never the same between the fork and shock kills my OCD.

This. Having recently been preparing a shopping list to service the 36 Float GRIP(1) fork _ONLY_, costing over 300 € for the official tools, buying RS tools is a breath of fresh air. I haven't spent 300 € on it yet in total (bought the piggyback wrench, the inflation adapter, SD IFP depth tool and the Reverb depth tool) and can deal with most of the current Rock Shox stuff. Plus looking at the service manuals, RS is dead easy to service, while FOX uses some truly idiotic steps when it comes to the fork at least (have they improved...

Would like to see these tested at a more common PSI. 26/27 on a 29er is pretty high compared to what most average consumers are using. How about 22/23 to see if the durability claims hold up?

one day, every commenter here, and elsewhere will blink, wake up and realize, they are suddenly in their mid 50's. they won't know how or why this horror afflicted them, but it will, with certainty. they may find that due to genetics, age, time or chronic injury, they can no longer climb like a goat to the upper trails and it's a sad fucking day i tell you what. then you buy one of these. without judgement, or prejudice.

I would bet $100 that GG is working on an e-bike. I would guess it will be pretty rad, too! They make solid products, and their in-house manufacturing will likely lend to refinements that some of the big players haven't gotten right. I'm all in for both e-bikes and bikes. Different flavors of the same rad entertainment.

Personally, I think it’s great. I wish the U.S. would lay down some authority too. There might be a few riders who opt not to get vaccinated, but I don’t think it will be any of the top contenders. Bring on the racing!

Yet again, we have athletes diagnosing their own concussions (more or less). When I was advocating for some kind of baseline testing (on the Inside Line), this is why I was advocating for it. You can have a mild concussion which is nearly impossible to diagnose without some kind of baseline to refer back to. This unfortunately sets you up to have a much worse concussion if you clap the dome again. I'm not saying every crash is a concussion, but I'd sure treat it like that when your head hits the ground as hard as these guys, again, in...
