The 90s called and wants our old man hot take on pricing back. Get off my lawn! For that price I want some anodized Super Bubbas and a Mag21 SL-Ti. With that said, I recently purchased a bike for about 50% more than this bike, mostly because it's all that was available in my size. They've got us by the beans, that's for sure.

34lbs is normal for a shreddable value trail bike.

So how do you fit a chairlift or shuttle into your "ethos"?

i'm happy for your race pedigree. i've never been and never will be a racer or an elite athlete, alas, i have merely average genetics, and a knee that's slowly turning to dust from overuse. about half of my peers are in this genetically inferior boat as it were. hockey injuries don't help. the eeb allows me to enjoy mountain biking again at a level (distance, exploration, and most importantly, descending time) i almost thought was gone.

one day, every commenter here, and elsewhere will blink, wake up and realize, they are suddenly in their mid 50's. they won't know how or why this horror afflicted them, but it will, with certainty. they may find that due to genetics, age, time or chronic injury, they can no longer climb like a goat to the upper trails and it's a sad fucking day i tell you what. then you buy one of these. without judgement, or prejudice.

i'll say it again. Transition is not a religious order that has forsaken its followers. the puritanical vibe towards this company and the bikes it makes is astonishing.

making waterproof bike gear is tough, getting the pants right, tougher still. i have the previous RF Agent pants, and they are very very good. they nailed the fabric, for feel, durability and waterproofness/breathability, pockets, fit, you name it. i'm super tall so the fit isn't bang on for me, but i'm the outlier. a bit extra calf room would be welcome. living on Vancouver Island we ride in a lot of rain and the pants are stand out items.

Honest question: have you ridden any kind of ebike? (Not a Walmart special but a brand-name, legit ebike with big name components? Did it suck? Did it break?) Not saying you can't express your opinion without direct experience but it would help us understand your POV. I've been riding MTBs for 30 years and I was pretty anti-ebike until recently. I'll spare you the long story but I'll say that these are the factors that have changed my mind. In no particular order: 1) I am a new dad. 2) my two year old has a chronic health condition that...

Well, countering your point would require you to read "walls of text, bullet points" (which you already suggest is too hard) so I'm not sure how I can engage. Simply, if you don't want to dive in, and instead want to argue for the sake of arguing, its a giant waste of time. I know why a rear center length is picked, and broadly speaking, axle path has very little to do with it (unless its a total outlier - alla BCD 2004) My big takeaway: If a person can't even say "oh man, I see, there is a lot...

You guys need to get some taller testers :-) Short head tubes/low stack height are the bane of my life - the banshee sounds perfect for 6' and over riders who would otherwise be battling with too low bar height...

Does it matter? It's supposed to be fun. Riding a bike uphill isn't much fun. Riding a bike downhill feeling fresh is super fun. Unless you are a paid pro and cheating the rules is involved I don't see an issue. Yes I ride an ebike.

sspomer Liked a product review 5 Stars - Marin Alpine Trail E2

Should we just cut to the chase? If you’re looking for a solid, playful eMTB that won’t break the bank (well by e-bike standards of course), Marin’s Alpine Trail E2, should be at the very top of your shopping list. At $6,299, the alloy-framed, mixed-wheel-size E2 features Shimano’s EP8 drive system, FOX 38 Performance Elite fork with 160mm of travel, DHX2 Performance Elite coil shock for 150mm of travel out back, and Shimano XT/SLX 12-speed drivetrain paired with powerful SLX 4-piston disc brakes. The 630wh battery isn’t the smallest or the biggest, but finds a nice balance of range and...
