I raced in the Open category this weekend and managed to reach every stage on time, with a few minutes to spare. The racers both in front of me and behind me also made it to the transfers on time. Although our transfer times were slightly longer than the elite's (by about 5 to 10 minutes), and we raced earlier in the day when the heat was more bearable, this shouldn't create a significant difference between us amateurs and the elites. But it's not like the previous races were easy, and there isn't really an argument to make that fit riders weren't already doing well with previous liaison times. But now it's incredibly punishing, and my biggest complaint is if you have a mechanical on one of the stages before a big liaison, your absolutely stuffed. There are already punishments for using extra parts, and getting a flat on a stage you already suffer for that stage, but now the stage after is wrecked too. That's not a good way to run a competitive race series. If we want to make...

The season as a whole was very good but the coverage and overall package just lacked the lovely feel that the RBTV show used to have. For me the worst part by far was the commentary. The repetitive reference to speed and heart rate of the riders is irritating. CG is no Rob Warner and Rick is not much better. I watched some races with the sound turned down and music on the hifi. Gwin saved the last two races but still had to battle the inane interruptions of Rick and CG. Camera work was dismal at times. At MSA...

You guys need to get some taller testers :-) Short head tubes/low stack height are the bane of my life - the banshee sounds perfect for 6' and over riders who would otherwise be battling with too low bar height...

Long term review. 2 years in and I had to replace the wheels. Terrible low spoke count hubs had to go. Rear hub was as rough as am EWS track. Super weak rims were toast by then too. Just last month the Monarch Plus failed terminally. Cracked damper shaft and no spares available from RS anywhere. If you buy a lower end Spesh, don't expect high weight and durability, you only get one, the high weight. Their low end wheelsets are rubbish and the less said about the RS Monarch the better. Great review. I can corroborate some of the experiences you had with Butcher 2.6 tyres, the same ones my Enduro Comp came with. Far too pressure sensitive and would lose air for no reason mid ride leading to rim damage and terrible handling. Far happier on Maxis 2.5 WTs. The wheels are also a disaster. 28/24 spoke wheels are too weak and flexy for a trail or enduro bike. My rear hub developed play and the bearings are rough until you tighten the axle. The rims are very soft and mine are dinged and out of round. About to build...

I shoulda been more descriptive and explained things better in that initial comment so that I'm not having to go back and clarify now. I've been reading a lot of articles and reviews of the Message from riders on MTBR and whatever else I can find and I am gathering that the largest hurdles are set up and expectations. People who just base the fork on looks alone have no idea what they are talking about outside of personal aesthetics and armchair engineering (and neither hold any water). If you think that an enduro bike (any not Spé Enduro) goes down as well as a DH bike, either you never set a foot on a DH bike, or it was years ago.

Love my 2018 Alloy Enduro 650. When set up right it does climb well and descends like a magic carpet. Most people upgrade various components and the Comp model I have is no exception. The 125mm dropper is too short, the bars are too low and the wheels are weak and flexy and very heavy.
