2022 NW Cup #2- Port Angeles, WA 2

It wouldn't be a race at Dry Hill without some rain!

Last weekend we welcomed back the NW Cup family to our home town of Port Angeles, WA. While we like to say it is alwasy sunny in Port Angeles.... I don't think even we can say Sunday was sunny.  Friday and Satuirday were great weather some high clouds. The dirt getting better and better every minute. Sunday unfortunately turned to consistent rain, with fog high on the mountain making visibility a little tricky.  Even with the wet weather some of the Pros and Juniors put in faster times on Sunday than their already fast times during seeding on Saturday.... traction was still there. At the end of the day Bailey Goldston and Carson Eiswald took the pro wins.

Jagger Bucy sending it into the rocks during seeding on Saturday.

It was shall we say....moist on Sunday

Hap Rena rallying Queen Diamond during practice on Friday.

Charley Barret with a more intense look than most of the pros!

Dom Shultz ignoring the heckling during practice for Cat 1.

Molly Blair sending it in the fog during Cat 2 race on Sunday.

Jayson Harper flowing through Heckler's row.

Aubrey Botts cruising her way to winning Cat 3 10 and under girls.

Oscar Ruiz flowing into the rock slab on White Knuckle.

Jasper Altendorf keeping it low and fast on Recluse. It's the first time Cat 2 has raced that trail and I think it was a hit.

DVO has stepped up as a big sponsor for NW Cup this year with suspension help at the races and it is much appreciated!

Jax Jayroe flying high down the cat 3 course.

Jeremiah Jebuni showing the concentration needed.

Looking through the corner is key to keeping a fast pace in the woods.

Thanks to Deschutes Brewery for sponsoring the Friday night party!
Volcom stepping in with free clothing for a bunch of raffle winners!
Lib Tech also donating some snowboards and skis for the raffle.
One of the happy winners of the Volcom Stone.

Stanley Goto enjoying the high speed berm right before the finish line.

Some practice days just don't go as planned... luckily the ferns are soft!

Kelin Phillips finding the high line down Recluse.

Ryder Goodson getting a little confidence boost from his dad to start the line.
But he didn't need it. Rode that line like a champ! Seeing the progression in the little kids ride is awesome!

Carter Sykes took a hard digger during practice in Cat 3...but ended up winning his Cat 3 7 and under race!

Carson Eiswald was one of only two people pulling the MASSIVE gap on Braeburn (maybe you saw it on Vital's IG stories). It got him the win on Sunday!

On Sunday Specialized put on probably the best race of the weekend. They sponsored a race for the tiny-grom lot. One lucky winner got to roll away on a full carbon Specialized Hotwalk. Rumor has it she even slept with the bike that night and wouldn't let it out of her site...we have a future ripper on our hands!

When singletrack is big enough to be double track you can open it up for some real speed!

Gotta love that the future of our sport is more than healthy!

Uber-Grom Podium
One lucky rider is getting this insane bike.
STOKED!

Braden Delzer fast and low off the hip.

Kasper Dean hanging it out.
Ella Erickson with one of the best speed tucks in the game.

Some runs just don't go as planned. Terjai Decker happy TLD is saving his back here!

Jim Dennison rocking the PNW style and making the old guys look good.

Liam Schultz trying to see through the fog on Sunday Morning.

Cole Suetos on his way to P1 in qualifying. Unfortunately he slipped back to second on race day.

Kenny Stone showing his excitement about the new Carbon Hotwalk his daughter won in the grom race!

Troy Lee Designs supplying a new helmet for the ugly helmet contest at each race.
Some groms stoked to have the chance to win!
One racer who definitely needed a new helmet after the weekend he had. He was STOKED!
