It's possible in theory, but in practice it's a huge waste of time and money. The welding will decrease the structural integrity of the aluminium, so the frame would have to be heat treated again afterwards. That comes with it's own set of problems, as it could easily warp the frame out of alignment. On top of that you'd need to find shops that do the welding and heat treating for an acceptable price. Repairing the frame could end up costing close to what a new frame would cost. And even if you did go get it repaired: The frame...

Does Atherton have the budget bandwidth to keep a freshly top 10 rider with years ahead of him? Not that I have any idea, but they're just starting to sell bikes, I question their budget for top riders, which they have been steadily producing and then loosing when it comes contract time. They're almost like the new Yeti, getting top talent started and sending them off to bigger things. Mille went pretty quick and I'm sure Kolb will as well, dudes stoked and doing well.

Just gonna put this here before anyone uses the "L" word. "Loam (/lōm/): a soil with roughly equal proportions of sand, silt, and clay."

The things is, done right (biiiiig caveat here, I admit), PF BBs are actually a good, even a better solution than threaded BBs.

People who want a bike and want to go on group bike rides but have an issue with fitness or speed and need a bit of help. Like mentioned, the full fat ebikes are cumbersome, the SL variants are actually riding like a bike.

Underpowered when comparing them to a full fat. But for those which just want a bit of assistance and only a small weight penalty, they are perfect. I hated my full fat eeb, felt clumsy and dead, kenevo sl feels like a normal bike to ride and jump.

What ^^^ he said. I've tried a few times in the past, but it ended up being a huge waste of time and money. Your best bet will be to get a crash replacement from Santa Cruz or just buy another frame.

Repairing aluminum frames is challenging because the heat of welding will affect the temper of the alloy, and the frame needs to be heat-treated after welding in order to regain its intended strength. But heat-treating a frame can also potentially cause alignment issues (and the frame might also need to be completely stripped of paint). There are very few manufacturers, frame builders, or welders who will repair a cracked aluminum frame, unfortunately.

Nerds! Wink I'll buy a brake for a myriad of reasons, but what fluid is in them is not going to be the determining factor (at all). I do hope someone does an updated test like this with all the new stoppers... https://enduro-mtb.com/en/best-mtb-disc-brake-can-buy/

Man I wish they were that cheap in Canada. An EX511 goes for $206 CAD, and a lot of people demo rims like this pretty frequently where I live. Add in the cost of wheel builds and spokes for the average rider who doesn't have the knowledge and tooling to rebuild a wheel, and those NQA carbon hoops start to look real good. After a few years of mid season wheel builds, I made the jump to LG1 Carbon Race rims, and am so far very glad I did.

Not a team rumor, so sorry for bumping this thread with something slightly ot but I had no where else to put this. Greg Minnar and Nina Hoffman were at the fox head HQ last night for an open house and my wife wanted to go down and meet them. She's a big fan of UCI DH and has always had a crush on the goat and is a big Nina Hoffman fan. We ended up getting to meet and talk to both. Nina in particular, was so effing nice to my wife. My wife got into MTB about 2.5...

How many of the ultra light bikes back in the day had 29er wheels? Disc brakes? How many of them lasted half a season or a full season? And yeah, you can make a flex stay, there are a few out there (Scott being one of them and over in the tech rumors a few were mentioned fairly recently as well). It's still far from optimal though. You can do a lot with correct design (minimise the amount of flexing for example), but you give the frame an expiration date even more so than with just general riding (all aluminium...
