7/2/2024 2:44pm Knollys recent sizing is just not it. Putting someone 5’6” on a bike with a 480 reach is just insane. They are either hoping to turn people off the sport or are just incredibly insecure and trying to prove something.

7/2/2024 2:43pm The launch video basically breaks every rule of modern advertising and I love it. "Don't sell the steak, sell the sizzle." "Don't talk about the product." "Customers don't care about specs, they care about experiences." It's just homie talking about the hub specs for 3 minutes, instead of campfire sunset B-roll and talking about the meaning of life with Christopher Walken. So much BS in the marketplace that they're able to be distinct by just being honest engineers who make better products. The narrator looks and sounds like he may have been the engineer who designed it (my brother's an...

7/2/2024 2:36pm Yup those SC bikes do some weird stuff, the rocker is super rigid & the leverage is pretty high so any slight misalignment or buckling gets transferred straight to the shock itself. Normally traditional eyelets at both ends is super reliable but those seem to be an outlier. The yoke destroying shocks thing is not even slightly overblown! Its just buckling forces on a slender part.....the longer you make it the more it wants to buckle when compressed. I have piles of broken shocks from nearly every brand that has been wrecked by shock extenders. Coil and air, fox, rockshox...

7/2/2024 2:34pm Not all of the shocks end up going through warranty replacement. Ask suspension shops how many air shocks they get with gouged/damaged air cans and/or broken shafts due to Stumpjumpers or yoke driven linkages. This goes back years across other bikes, the common factor for all of them is the yoke. Whether it's an issue for you specifically likely comes down to numerous factors including rider weight and terrain, but that doesn't mean there isn't an engineering flaw associated with them. Even if it's a small number, it's an issue that doesn't effect most other linkage designs, so why continue...

7/2/2024 2:20pm As far as I can see it's the same principle of drilling holes that the cheese grater Mac Pro used? On the other hand... 160 mm, 180 mm, 220 mm and a 254 mm for whatever reason (10 inches?). And in the middle of it all, freaking 203 mm. Because why do equal 20 mm steps when you can fuck the system with the most widespread rotor size (200/203 size in general) of late.

This fantasy format has me more engaged than ever, watching all the Raw's and trackwalks, paying attention through quali, and semi's, adjusting strategy, making changes to my squad all weekend. 6/14/2024 2:16pm I found the Charger 3 to be very harsh in a lot of situations. Did a lot of work to try and get a setup that worked but ultimately failed and put a 2.1 damper in my Zebs. The 2.1 damper is much better in my experience. Hopefully the 3.1 is a step up in performance.

6/6/2024 4:46pm I’ve thought about this before, and the conclusion is I’m selfish. Money without time isn’t worth much, so I’m quitting my job, and getting a coach and mechanic on retainer. Buying a slew of bikes (duh), a Hennessy Raptor R or TRX, a house in Squamish, and then taking my friends wherever else we want to go ride. Continue to have none of the idea, but with more cooler gear.

6/6/2024 4:43pm I would join the Global Conservation Mountain Biking Club and buy a yacht to park in Princess Louisa Inlet and ride these trails: https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipO1RL9jF_wdZDgpg_Fc5xVBHiYwl-oYQHi… Not my photos. There is a thread on the other site's forums that talk about this organization and these trails. There is a bit of background in the 2nd last paragraph here: https://www.princesslouisa.bc.ca/history "An organization called Global Conservation Mountain Biking Club, whose actual owners have not been revealed, has bought a waterfront parcel. When the society learned that the mountain bikers would come into the inlet by helicopter there was some concern. Yet in the last...

6/6/2024 4:42pm cocaine and hook...... oh mtb related. Sorry Start my own WCDH team for sure, nice house in Queenstown and Few chalets in Europe and just people can stay, train and progress on my dime. Good question actually. I'd just travel and ride weird places like Bali and Japan etc.

6/6/2024 4:41pm I'd buy property in places I want to ride (Squamish, Revelstoke, somewhere in Europe, etc) and host friends whenever they want to come out. Donate tons to different trail organizations and non-profits that promote cycling and make access easier to low-income and marginalized communities. Ride when/where I want. Maybe push the limits of N+1, but give so many bikes away. I don't think I'd invest in a team, or bike park or company. I want to ride bikes because it's fun and wouldn't want it to turn into work.
