Thoroughly convinced that most folks will get R's specced on their new bike, run it a few times, experience an issue then make the sweeping decision that all brakes from SRAM are bad. Code RSC's are great brakes to be honest, they've just got a different feel. They wouldn't have survived on the downhill circuit before Mavens if they weren't great brakes.

To falsify your personal anecdotal evidence, here's mine. I've never had great experiences with shimano brakes, and happily choose, purchase, and run exclusively sram brakes on all of my bikes. I've had XT, XTR, SLX, and Deore brakes, and every single one of them required a biweekly bleed and broke and had inconsistent bite points. I've been on codes for...

Yeah I think the swing link is the main difference, gives it a rising leverage ratio for a nicer feel along with better pad clearance. Brakes without it tend to either have long throw or constantly rub. Shimano is the same, their servo wave feature used to only be on SLX and above, but it looks like that is used down to deore level now! (Also it took my brain way too long to remember the name of SLX - kept going to search for Deore LX ) Honestly, people just need to learn how to bleed and service brakes...

It's almost always the latter - There has been a lot of quite well proven suspension technology already put to use over the last few decades, we just seem to zig zag between combining different concepts every few years. Not that those products in the past were perfect - its instead of being refined they just get scrapped and replaced with something completely different until someone else comes along and takes the good parts of that design and builds on it. It's either that, or a kind of dual chamber system that closes off near the end of the travel...

Sorry for wording it badly, of course RSC s have bearings. But they are not the performance differentiatior. This is where the swing link is the factor between the two. I must admit I very much like Code RSCs (to be honest I did like Lewis Ultimates better, but not 500+ eur better), but every Code R that I touched is, well... Garbage. The lever feel is completely different. Might be the bushings. But I'm fairly certain it's the swing link as I did used to run Guide RS brakes that had both bushings and the swing link.

Thank You, My thoughts exactly. We could all use a little headed thinking, and the realization that we are all different, ride different, on different terrain, with different abilities, on different bikes, and have different needs/wants. We live in a wonderful time, with amazing choices, that all work really well

Mavens eh? Sounds like sram is running away from Codes as quick as possible.

I have an unreleased 140/150mm bike in the shop that comes stock with a Fox 36 and Mavens type build kit with a completely new inline fox shock with the bike manufacturers logo on it and a HUGE air can. It's very strange to see an inline shock on a build like this so I'm interested in whats going on with it. Apparently next week we'll know. It kind of looks like an RP23 with a high volume air can but 1.5x the size

The most exciting feature delivered with the new EP801 firmware update is the extended assist carryover when the rider stops pedaling. This is a key race advantage… Now we’re talking! Push this a little farther and we can call the one good, strong kickstart a pedal stroke and give me a few thousand seconds of ‘carryover’. That’ll getcha up the local hill :D

I know it isn't going to, but I want the Big Hit to come back. Mullets are in, it's got the nostalgia factor for the generation that is starting to spend big money on mountain bikes... Aluminum, mullet 160/160 and 180/170 options, give me a long rear and and a low BB...

Pidcock (reigning Cx and Olympic xc champion) is widely regarded as the best decender in the peleton and an incredible bike handler. Not sure anyone is making fun of him. They took the road gap out at Vallnord where Camille wrecked herself. They cancelled the entire Junior race at Loudenville. I think the point is that penalty for failure shouldn't be an injury caused by a badly designed feature.Max's front wheel slipped and sent him offline......in a narrow runout lined by massive boulders.......which he hit with his face. Did the boulders add to the technical difficulty of the section or just...

I dont think the course was too technical, i just dont think they should line those sections with rock walls. Theyd have more line options if they left that boulder field open without the rock barriers. The technicality would still be there, which is great in mtb, but those inbedded rock walls are unnecessary hazards, excessive consequences
