I was doing a long drive a few weeks back and listened to Nigel Paige’s podcast with Brent Foes. Brent eluded to the fact that, in his opinion, the current crop of DH bikes could be better and he has a slew of ideas based from his Motorsport experience that he wants to try. They never blatantly admit it, but it sounds Nigel might have a hand in a start up team that will ride proto Foes bikes in the big leagues.

My riding bud has been running a Foes Mixer for years now & has been talking about buying something new. This signing practically guarantees he'll be forced to buy another out of sheer hope of a return to glory. I still love the lines of the DHS. Only red bike I ever drooled over.

Popping in to say I'm stoked we have two sick #USDH races in the two off weeks from world cup DH to keep us fan boys going. And they both have replay show coverage on Youtube !!! Monster Energy Pro Downhill this weekend at Mountain Creek looks epic. The crew pulled out all of the stops for an epic track and I'm sure we will have great camera coverage from the Gravity Cooperative. Dante Silva qualifying just ahead of Asa makes for some epic racing tomorrow. And next weekend DHSE Snowhsoe on the Basin side of the mtn for an...

Hell no. Sounds like a great way to increase risk of injury with very little benefit. I get a pro fanagling thru an injury to minimize position loss in the standings. But makes very little sense in any other situation.

Personally I don’t like the look of it. Got a beautiful welsh mountainside with this wierd and ugly giant rollin, jump, and landing built onto it. But I’m sure it will look pretty epic on camera and that’s what they are going for. And while hardline often gets called off for wind. With a wooden run in they should be able to hit it if it’s wet as will it roll just as fast. I have zero experience with features of this size but the lip looks like less of a problem than the transition from the rollin and the...

It's only telemetry if it comes from the telemetry region of France; otherwise it's just sparkling data acquisition. But actually: If the data being collected aren't also being transmitted, it isn't telemetry.

If I can ask just a moment of everyone's time to speak for the sheep, There are just not a lot of ways to judge bike or component performance independent of the rider. The discussion already includes some examples of why (e.g. CG) and there are more. That's not to say it couldn't be done; there are research tools out in the world that I think would make child's play of even mtb's thorniest questions about what's really fastest/most stable/most comfortable/etc/etc, which to be fair are pretty thorny, given that rider expectation drives bike outcomes. Rider familiarity drives bike outcomes...

Sooo let me get this right, the people complaining about only having 30 riders in the final are also the people complaining about having full runs broadcast… what a remarkable coincidence.

Can't take credit for this hot take, but props to the person who articulated it. Watching someone's ENTIRE full run of a World Cup DH is a tough watch. You lose context of where the past racers made/lost time or had a different line that you enjoy or even notice. I assume there is less "splice" to do in that way so the engineer doesn't have to overlap cameras in his control booth to mesh a good view. Just drop camera by camera in sequence. But it's not that "choice bite" of the meal we all want. I'm still of...

The crew from Monster pro dh and trail builders at Mountain Creek knocked this one out of the park. The course was soooooo fun to ride while being deceptively difficult to go fast on. 2 for 2 for the Pro Downhill Series. Clay and crew are doing a bang up job. #usdh

I'd buy property in places I want to ride (Squamish, Revelstoke, somewhere in Europe, etc) and host friends whenever they want to come out. Donate tons to different trail organizations and non-profits that promote cycling and make access easier to low-income and marginalized communities. Ride when/where I want. Maybe push the limits of N+1, but give so many bikes away. I don't think I'd invest in a team, or bike park or company. I want to ride bikes because it's fun and wouldn't want it to turn into work.
