4/13/2025 2:01pm There have been for years in the certain areas of the Bay Area. 20MPH speed limits, for all bikes, are enforced.

4/13/2025 2:01pm The capable pedal assisted speed of an e-bike on a trail is not doing nearly as much damage to the trail as riders with poor braking skills. Or the group ride that's stomping around the sides of the trail to get videos, making the trail more susceptible to erosion. It's 3mph. I can pee 3mph. I've also had a head on collision requiring facial reconstruction surgery. 3mph wouldn't have made my face any less jacked up.

4/13/2025 1:58pm The standard link and yoke are. Haven't gotten a chance to test fit the high pivot kit on an aluminum frame yet though. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work. If anyone in the greater Seattle area has an aluminum frame and wants to find out, swing by and we can throw it on.

4/13/2025 1:54pm You've got that backwards, It is a class 3 ebike with the option to turn on a 20mph speed limiter. That is the only way to logically treat this bike, and it is definitely a bad idea. Be prepared for land managers to not allow any specialized ebikes because of it.

4/13/2025 1:53pm My god, the class 3 thing is a nightmare locally. We're going through a major US forest service recreation plan "re-work" and eBike access is a huge sticking point. The local MTB advocacy group was for opening up class 1 access but not class 3 because no one reputable made them. Thus implying that class 1 was as far as mtb eBikes would go. But that argument is moot now. As for my two cents? I don't honestly care all that much personally, but the access can-o-worms in the US at least makes me want to puch everyone at specialized...

4/13/2025 1:52pm So much this. The opportunity for land access people to just say "well as even you can't tell the difference anymore unless you physically stop someone and check their machine the easiest thing is just to ban all bikes" I know access issues are different all over the world but the risks here out weigh the gains. " In the US market, access to those options is open to the user, with Specialized saying it’s “up to the rider to switch modes according to local rules and regulations” I trust Specialized are going to be very clear to the dealers...

4/13/2025 1:49pm Looks to me like they both use the Matchmaker design. Which is a good thing, IMHO. Dialing in ergonomics with MM is less fiddly than with any of the iterations of I-Spec.

4/13/2025 1:43pm I think it's great to have options. Similar to having a base model sports car and a ludicrous model with 900 horse power. If I had $15000 to spend on a freakin bicycle, I certainly would.
