8/29/2025 12:27pm Spotted over on Pinkbike -- Ronan Dunne running his tuned mass damper in a novel location. (More like a tuned ass damper, am I right? Sorry, I'll see myself out.)

8/29/2025 10:52am Update on some Maven bleeding: Tried the pinner cups/overnight bleed/dangling caliper with bleed blocks in on 3 sets of mavens and the improvement is dramatic. At this point I'm fairly convinced that the mineral oil formula that SRAM is using holds onto air a bit more than some other formulas (like magura/shimano), and that degassing the mineral oil is a very important step. Also, the more aggressive the piston massage the better. I've also noticed that I need to do it a 3-4 times for things to really improve, and I repeat the process until the pistons move evenly and...

8/27/2025 8:57pm I think it should be time to gatekeep. I've already been calling out creators using AI, I wouldn't be opposed to calling out people who take free stuff from Lewis.

8/27/2025 7:59am I don't think China cares about that. I'm hoping Joe Breeden does though and stops running their bullshit on their race bikes. Is that chainring design a copy aswell?

8/27/2025 6:49am Why? The hole is their second best feature, it makes them super comfortable and grippy. Also, fuck lewis.

8/25/2025 6:54am This is a great question! At the most basic level, grip = friction x force. There's a fixed amount of mechanical friction that can occur between the ground and the durometer of the rubber for any given amount of force, so a single row of side knobs maximizes the force distributed onto those knobs (as opposed to distributing it across the side knobs and the transition knobs, which would be a larger total surface area). Think of it like stepping on a single nail vs. lying down on a bed of nails. A single nail can puncture even a thick...

8/19/2025 2:00pm It's sad that as soon as SRAM purchased shockwiz they consigned it to abandonware. The tech was so cool and it certainly succeeded as a proof of concept, it's a shame the sole major update the platform ever got made it significantly worse for nerd users, which, let's be honest - that's who was actually going to buy the thing other than shops as a fun add-on to bike setup and demo programs. My one sentence review of the Shockwiz is "If the sticker on the back of your fork can get you 80% of the way to properly tuned...

8/18/2025 12:01pm Up in Canada-land, I have seen a number of new HP Sights around the eastern Alberta Rockies say ~7-8 of 'em, and ride with a couple of folks that own the higher end ones, but nothing in qty. like years past Horst link models. I almost bought a new C1 160 MX until I found a deal on a nice WAO Arrival. It doesn't help when the mid-size bike shop in my neighborhood still has 2023 Sights on the floor, and the sales guy eyes glaze over when I ask about the HP version. I think HP was the wrong...

8/15/2025 8:20pm There are a handful in North America right now and more on the way. If your local shop can’t already get them, it shouldn’t be much longer.

8/14/2025 11:37am For context, I can (and have on previous trips) tear through a maxx terra DHR 2 in 7 days in whistler with 3-4 days in the park and 3-4 days pedaling. That same DHR 2 would last me ~300-500 miles in socal with the low end being my enduro bike and the higher end of that being my trail bike. That wear looks really good for a maxx grip dissector with those riding stats from my pov. I could tear through the previous gen maxx terra dissector in 8 rides or less in socal (~160 miles). I can't wait to...

8/14/2025 11:32am I’ve ridden the new dissector front with forecaster rear a couple times and it’s a fantastic lighter trail combo. Dissector has great feedback in the front, was easy to tell when it started to slide and didn’t just snap like some tires. They were both exo+ casings for context. Not typically a maxxis fan but I’m really impressed with what they’ve done.

8/14/2025 11:30am Welp, you can probably tell by my clickbait thumbnail alone, but I'm not a fan of the Podium thus far. TL;DR (or TL;DW), its different, but its not better. I also have durability issues that have occurred on two different Podiums and the performance is meh. Not bad, but certainly not worth the money. Also, I think now is a good time for me to eat crow and go "yeah, I think the media guys did get something a little different".
