DH bikes aren't made to have wide appeal to consumers, the current demo is an obvious sign of that. Respectfully, they do not care if the consumer would be miffed at an expensive cassette or don't really care about total cost of the frame +/- 500-1000. Besides, it's not an either or... maintaining UDH compatibility still allows for cheaper, standard mount drivetrains that have a variety of cost options. My assumption is to split the load to two sets of chain gears for slower wear and longer service intervals.

Has specialized provided an explanation for why there are 2 chains hidden in the frame, rather than 1? The 4 chainrings and 2 tension idlers is a lot going on - seems like there must be a good reason?

I was there for 7 days riding in late June shortly after the full Portes du Soleil opened up. I easily could have ridden for another 5 days and been entertained. It was pretty much perfect weather and dirt the whole time, but holy that dirt can get greasy (it pissed the final day). This last season wasn't great coverage, because in part he was injured. I watch his channel during race season, for the POV practice laps. I still get a kick out of the racers perspective and watching he speed and track evolve. I still miss Fox's "Dialed" series, but that me LOL

Every team that requested round by round wild cards last year got them, I can’t see that changing this year so PFR will probably just get a round by round wild card entry. Regardless all their riders can get in under other rules based on rankings etc.
