beeeom Added a reply to Shimano/TRP Maven - S-tier braking (Shaven/Traven)
2/10/2026 6:23am Oh I have them dialed all the way in on the reach adjust... Still way too far out. I'm a huge fan of the regular Shimano on/off feeling, but coupled with the Mavens and with my fingers way out in outerspace it's simply too much haha!

2/6/2026 7:14pm So I did a couple rides with the Shhmaven set-up (saint levers paired with ultimate calipers) and was not happy with the lever feel. It was super "on-off" and the freestroke was too short. Not much modulation and my fingers were waaay out in space at the bite point. Do I need to pull a bit of fluid out of...

1/27/2026 6:54am Ya ya obviously there are lesser known gems across the alps, but if you're a downhill mountain bike rider, PDS is probably as close to heaven as you can get. When I was there in June, lines were non-existent (except on passports day) & the trails were empty and immaculate

1/26/2026 2:04pm I was there for 7 days riding in late June shortly after the full Portes du Soleil opened up. I easily could have ridden for another 5 days and been entertained. It was pretty much perfect weather and dirt the whole time, but holy that dirt can get greasy (it pissed the final day). It would be a different experience...

1/25/2026 8:55am No not really?! Ive had probably 20 different saint and XT levers over the years and have never had that screw frozen. Admittedly, it is a bit annoying to get purchase on it with a screwdriver sometimes

1/24/2026 9:14pm Just set up my maven ultimate calipers with maven hoses to Saint levers with BH90 olive and barb. I de-gassed maven fluid in a syringe with bleeeding edge fitting and pushed fluid from the caliper into a Shimano bleed cup on the lever. Then closed up the system and piston massaged 4 times per caliper using the sram technique. Then...

1/17/2026 8:26am Please point out the actual insult and/or demonization? Buddy had a flippant, incredulous tone, and suggested I don't know what I'm talking about so buddy got a wee bit of sarcasm and hyperbole in response. It's clear from this thread (and about a million others) across the internet, that people are struggling to get a good bleed on Mavens. This...

1/12/2026 10:08pm It's a time consuming, messy, inconsistent bleed process, with infuriating self-aerating fluid. I'm not some hamfisted ogre as you seem to be insinuating and have been bleeding many different brakes to over the decades. Lots of people aren't as particular as I am when it comes to lever feel... Dare I suggest that perhaps your bleeds wouldn't quite live up...

1/12/2026 8:52pm Dude look at that video! That is objectively a fucking annoying bleed process. Huge PITA. I nearly died when bro said "I've done this up to twenty times" when referring to the back-and-forth" And don't even get me going on how easily the fluid aerates or the massive mess after it splooges out when disconnecting on the pressurized system

1/8/2026 2:04pm Yes - Sram Maven's are really, really, really finicky to get operating perfectly. To an infuriating degree. They are reasonable to get feeling "OK", but "OK" doesn't cut it for me (although I think it does for most folks). My Saints are infinitely easier, and when the lever does start to fluctuate a bit, a 60s lever bleed and freethrow...

12/16/2025 7:58am Ric, Josh, and Neko are akin to listening to paint dry. Watch 10 minutes of 2025 hard-line and then watch 10 minutes of any 2025 world cup. The Discovery gang is utterly dull. They barely even comment on the action. It's just bland, boring, noise to fill the air

Maven's perform great, but they are a royal PITA to live with. The fluid aerates soooo easily and the bleed is messy and fussy. I find that I need to mess with the Maven's about as frequently as I needed to lever bleed my Shimano Saints. Additionally, no matter what, I can't get even pad wear (yes I've done all the tricks) I'm willing to live with Mavens for now because they are great brakes when you finally get them dialed in, but as soon as the new Shimano Saint is released I'll be jumping back (assuming it's got gobs...

10/12/2025 9:21am I'm sorry. If you're good enough to consider dropping in on MSA in the event that Jackson had a mishap and you're good enough to hobble as pictured in this video, you're good enough to to show up for the overall podium. If his boo-boo was worsening, there were 4 hours to make a decision between final practice run and...

10/10/2025 8:46am As an in-person spectator, there was way less action on track on race day last year at MSA vs Lourdes in 2015... The small finals field absolutely makes things less eventful trackside. Super long gaps in between riders. Practice and quali's day are still sick though, but a bit of let down on race day given the infrequent action

9/13/2025 5:47pm Just a buncha butthurt Yankees in here. Finding it hard to celebrate a young Canuck on top of the game. The irony is that if Jackson were American, those same butt hurt yanks would be being obnoxiously chanting ooo-rah USA! USA! with hand guns blasting in the air

8/2/2025 10:48pm According to the results at https://www.artiming.eu/results/2025/Prodownhillseries4/ Kailey Skelton won the US Nationals DH today. Her winning margin was 3.67 seconds over Aletha Ostgaard. Besides becoming the US National Champion she has also now won 3 of the 4 Monster Energy Pro DH races this year. As of 7:40 Eastern Time / 4:40 Pacific Time (US), about 70 of the 100+ Elite Men have finished their runs. No spoiler... I'll just say that a couple of fan favorites have posted excellent times.

7/15/2025 3:43pm Fox bumpers are soooooo loosely goosey that riders with 40's have no other option (on any DH bike). So much as sneeze and the stock bumper has inevitably rotated and you fully go stanchion to frame
