beeeom Added a reply to What DH bike am I?
6/20/2026 1:10pm Because I've got a fancy 157mm carbon rear wheel from my current build, and I'd rather not have to buy a different hub, spokes, and do a wheel build or drop $1000 on a new wheel.

6/19/2026 8:52pm Lol I will not be buying a Giant. I crack a frame every single season without fail. I need something that is bomber and/or has a solid warranty reputation.

6/19/2026 11:03am The Rage is interesting, but comes out to over $7k CAD with taxes & shipping... The TR11 is up there, but I fall a bit in between sizes (481mm in long vs 501mm in short with -5mm cups) & it's not available until Q4 2026. Also, I do have a fancy wheel so I'd need to factor in the cost...

6/19/2026 9:41am I'd love to try one. Unfortunately this A model is prohibitively expensive... The S model would fit the bill though...

6/19/2026 9:28am I can't go V10 as the XL doesn't allow for a 27.5" rear wheel! Otherwise I probably would have pulled the trigger already!

6/19/2026 9:27am I've added this to the list. It's quite pricey though once the exchange rate gets factored in... ~$4500 CAD with no shock (but luckily my Session shock would bolt right on)

6/19/2026 9:19am Regardless of whether the v5 is reliable or not, the company still sucks! They totally hosed me last time. Never again!

6/18/2026 10:13pm Looking for a new DH frame as my Session is cracked and Trek has no replacements available this year. Criteria: 485-500mm reach Mullet compatible 157mm rear hub spacing Frame only option Available to buy today So far the new Mondraker and Supreme v5 are really the only ones I can find that fit the bill. Unfortunately the Mondraker is backordered...

6/14/2026 2:15pm I recall the explanation from Ruaridh Cunningham was the environmental and visual impact of course tape and they always intended to switch to just poles. The low "tape" stuff they still use in enduro was just a short term transition.

6/11/2026 7:47am I've been waiting on a warranty replacement Session frame since December 2025... First it was supposed to be delivered in February, then delayed until May, and now delayed until November (!). I'm stuck holding my dick on a cracked frame for bike park season unless I'm willing to give Trek an interested free loan and buy something else in the...

4/23/2026 6:17am Shimano lover here. The A1 ultimate or silver is what you want. Super direct and crisp and fantastic lever adjustment with both reach and contact point . I haven't ridden the B1, but it sounds sounds less shimano-y

2/10/2026 6:23am Oh I have them dialed all the way in on the reach adjust... Still way too far out. I'm a huge fan of the regular Shimano on/off feeling, but coupled with the Mavens and with my fingers way out in outerspace it's simply too much haha!

2/6/2026 7:14pm So I did a couple rides with the Shhmaven set-up (saint levers paired with ultimate calipers) and was not happy with the lever feel. It was super "on-off" and the freestroke was too short. Not much modulation and my fingers were waaay out in space at the bite point. Do I need to pull a bit of fluid out of...

1/27/2026 6:54am Ya ya obviously there are lesser known gems across the alps, but if you're a downhill mountain bike rider, PDS is probably as close to heaven as you can get. When I was there in June, lines were non-existent (except on passports day) & the trails were empty and immaculate

1/26/2026 2:04pm I was there for 7 days riding in late June shortly after the full Portes du Soleil opened up. I easily could have ridden for another 5 days and been entertained. It was pretty much perfect weather and dirt the whole time, but holy that dirt can get greasy (it pissed the final day). It would be a different experience...

1/25/2026 8:55am No not really?! Ive had probably 20 different saint and XT levers over the years and have never had that screw frozen. Admittedly, it is a bit annoying to get purchase on it with a screwdriver sometimes

1/24/2026 9:14pm Just set up my maven ultimate calipers with maven hoses to Saint levers with BH90 olive and barb. I de-gassed maven fluid in a syringe with bleeeding edge fitting and pushed fluid from the caliper into a Shimano bleed cup on the lever. Then closed up the system and piston massaged 4 times per caliper using the sram technique. Then...

1/17/2026 8:26am Please point out the actual insult and/or demonization? Buddy had a flippant, incredulous tone, and suggested I don't know what I'm talking about so buddy got a wee bit of sarcasm and hyperbole in response. It's clear from this thread (and about a million others) across the internet, that people are struggling to get a good bleed on Mavens. This...

1/12/2026 10:08pm It's a time consuming, messy, inconsistent bleed process, with infuriating self-aerating fluid. I'm not some hamfisted ogre as you seem to be insinuating and have been bleeding many different brakes to over the decades. Lots of people aren't as particular as I am when it comes to lever feel... Dare I suggest that perhaps your bleeds wouldn't quite live up...
