This Just In! Stark Motorcycles is going to be joining the MTB world with its EBike Called the Stark “NotaMoto”. This ebike has 80 horse power and a gear box. Apparently they made the decision to join the bike industry after one of the executives said- “ I mean its all bullshit. You can buy an ebike from Specialized at the same price as our motorcycles. But with like 1/1000th the power. We should just put mountain bike wheels on a Varg and just sell it to them. Theyre just in denial that they want a motorcycle and want to...

Hey all, I can finally take off my very sneaky blue tape camouflage to reveal that yes, I’m reviewing the new Nomad. Because I’ve spent so many years on the old Megatower, I’m framing this as a Megatower vs. Nomad comparison. Especially interesting for me because of the rumors that the Megatower is going away and the new Nomad does not take 29” rear wheels. I only have a couple rides in on the new bike, but so far the geometry feels really good and the bike feels solid and stout. Weirdly I haven’t been able to figure out the...

And poor Kona trying to release a backpacking hardtail on this day. I guess they didn't get the memo.

I'd be curious to hear from some of the industry people in this forum about what is, by my estimation, one of the weirdest release days I have seen since being interested in MTB. From the outside it seems like DJI placed an embargo on press releases/ forced brands into a certain launch window. I count eight Avinox M2S bike launches on Pinkbike. Surely this is frustrating for the manufacturers? Their bikes are being lost in sea of press releases for bikes that tout the exact same ground breaking tech. Seems like a marketing nightmare to have your product made...

Of all the hills people want to die on in this industry, I think brake fluid is probably the stupidest one......

Radial Rock Razor, that would be cool! But there are better tires on the horizon Smile Trying to determine this tire snapshot from just the side profile is actually pretty hard, especially since we do prototype testing with the Cannondale Factory Team. But i think the boring answer is the correct one in this case, and to me it looks like a Rick. Edit: Found another shot from the same photo shoot. It was a Race Pro Thunderburt... Back to tire school

If those are new prototype Hayes on Reece's bike then halleluiah! About time they got around to flipping the reservoir position on their brakes. Anything to let an errant air pocket migrate from the bore to the reservoir is a welcome addition, plus moving the relatively fragile res cap out of harm's way, and how much less reorienting the MC during the bleed will be required. I don't think the Doms are terribly hard to bleed but I also went off script from their process to get better consistency, and that requires a good bit more than their process states.

It depends on which versions you are asking about. The Magnotal grip is close to the same speed as the ground control T7 (assuming the "T7" compound is the same in both GC and purgatory etc). The magnotal I think is more of a hardpack/loose over hard tire. I haven't ridden it on the front, but I do have it in the back with a xynotal soft front, and the grip is insane. Loving it compared to the Assegai maxxgrip that it replaced. But I am riding hardpack with some slight sandyness on top, so it makes sense that the...

FIrst real ride on the MM+Albert radials. Started above what should be rideable. Muddy slop. Finished 3.1k feet lower where it's dusty, loose, and dry. The radials handled it all noticeably gripper than the Assegai. And, since I was running 5psi more, the tire held its shape really well too (I hate it when you feel a tire fold over) TLDR hype is real. I want a Forecaster in radial!

The lever throw is pretty easily adjustable when you're setting them up... There's a grub screw behind the lever blade. I shortened mine up once, and the start/ bite point is much closer to the grips.... they've remained consistent for years. I personally find the Dominion power much easier to modulate than Shimanos as well, especially given that you could never tell when Shimanos from M8000/81000 series would actually bite.

I’m digging the Forekaster/Ikon combo a lot. I prefer the Ikon to the Rekon Race or regular Rekon for that matter. Aspen also tops the RR for me as the RR pushes in anything but the hardest, buffest terrain.

@sethimus @Evil96 @CascadeComponents I love, like love-love, that someone with an engineering background (and seemingly a degree) and a wealth of manufacturing experience provided factual mathematical evidence, and it has been refuted by "I believe the manufacturer of this shiny new thing I bought", like conformation bias doesnt exist or something.... There's a quote about facts and opinions that I'm trying to remember here...... it'll come to me....

In regard to front axles and stiffness of inverted forks, the angular deflection of a shaft is defined as θ=(T*L)/(J*G). The key variables for axles are J (polar moment of inertia since we're talking about circles) and G (shear modulus of the material). J for a circular cross section is J(r1,r2)=(π*((r1^4)-(r2^4)))/2 where r1 is the OD and r2 is the ID (zero if solid). As for G, the shear modulus of steel is approximately 3x that of aluminum. Now for a comparison between 15 and 20 mm axles... Lets say we have a solid 15 mm axle and want to...

Pivot must think that EMTB motors are like Pokemon... gotta catch 'em all! Shimano EP8, Fazua 60, Bosch CX 5, Bosch SX, Avinox M2... only ones they've missed are the TQs.

Interesting! Keep us updated on the Magnotals. I'd love to hear some more real-world experience with them. The only "review" I've seen of the new Conti tires are the GuyKesTV Dubnital review and his Trinotal review where he mentions the Magnotals. He didn't love the Trino or Magno but that the Dub was good if you ride it for what it is: fast but not much grip. I was considering Magno/Trino but also thought that some combination of Krypto Trail Soft up front with Magno or Trino in back would work well. That would be conceptually a little more similar...

I'm right there with ya on the Nashville chicken. My guilty pleasure. I've been a long time Forekaster + Rekon lover but this year I decided to switch it up a bit and going a similar route. Magnotal soft front and Magnotal grip rear. First impressions have been really positive. They roll like a rekon race and feel grippier than...
