For a while, half the people I rode with were on one Forbidden model or another, and honestly, those frames have some of the worst QC and overall design execution I’ve seen in that price range. Unless it’s the bike’s very first ride, they creek like crazy, and the suspension pivot hardware is borderline laughable. A buddy of mine—who posts here pretty often—ended up getting his frame replaced under warranty after endless battles with headset creaking. Forbidden eventually admitted the carbon had ovalized. No, Specialized isn’t the most exotic brand out there, but I definitely wouldn’t put Forbidden anywhere near...

While they are 8 degree back sweep, the angle starts further from the bar center than any other bar I have tried. This gives them less setback for where your hands actually end up, take note when picking a stem length. Compared to OneUp bars cut to the same length, the WAO bars have a 8mm shorter offset from the bar center when measured at the grips. So if you were running OneUp bars and swapped to these keeping the same stem, it would be like running a 8mm longer stem.

I posted this in Jason's Maven B1 article, but since this thread seems to be where all the action is, wanted to post my thoughts here, too: The new B1 brake raise so many questions and so many new opportunities for tweaking with brakes. RAAW addressed this issue by using modular dropouts. They first did it with their Yalla DH bike which has now trickled down to their Madonna v3.2. This is what the DH industry might head towards to accommodate UDH. Also can we take a moment to drool over how the black and silver SRAM design works with the RAAW frames 🤤

For both brands, you should always buy the most expensive chain they sell, so XX and XTR as the harder coatings on them often double to triple the usage you can get out of them, more than offsetting the cost increase. Zero friction cycling has the data, but XX flat top chains in particular are the cheapest chain per mile you will find.

Yes on the XX chains, not so much with GX. I wear out a GX transmission chain in ~1,500 miles on a pedal bike and 1,000 miles on an ebike.

The XX chain or any of the transmission chains are insanely hard wearing and very strong overall. I have 3 seasons on one that came with the XX groupset and still can't measure any hint of wear using the latest gauges. Probably close to 160,000+M in vert and thousands of kilometers on the MTB. I think they really meant it...
