That guy continues to strive for the asshole of the year award. Any validity of his opinion has been removed by that kneepad/short gap and that’s even before we talk about his “low IQ” dismissal of everyone who dares to disagree with him 😂

IPA? That IMO is the best use case scenario for an IPA!🤣

Loved the video. Thanks for sharing. And if Forbidden can make their living selling to their niche, then more power to them. I'm still amazed by how niche that niche can be.

This is classic Forbidden and yes total niche. I always thought their bikes squarely target the BC style of riding. The mountain bikes with the high pivot and long stable geometry feel right at home where they are built. I love forbidden for this. These two frames are following the same ethos I believe. The Puritan makes perfect sense if you do interior BC "gravel riding". I day this in quotes because their definition of gravel is kinda different compared to the stuff we see in media. Someone I rode with in Toronto moved to BC and gave up mountain...

For my DOT brakes I have a water filled spray bottle (same one I use for ride wrap). Since DOT is hygroscopic, you really don't need anything more that water to do a thorough cleanup. Once in a while I also rinse the syringes with the same spray bottle and throw the water as hazardous waste. For my mineral fluid...
I know this is an MTB site, but a flat-bar only gravel bike with clearance for only 50mm tires and built around a 50mm travel fork is wildly niche. "I want a gravel bike that's really only good on gravel roads and the absolute smoothest of trails, but I don't want drop bars because wind doesn't exist where I live and I'm never doing long rides where my wrists get tired holding the same spot on the bars all day." Seems like a very BC-only sort of gravel bike.

As much as I want to try longer chain stays, if you like short stays, rock them.. My current bike has 432 stays, I can ride it fast, but I have to focus a lot on my body position.. Ride what works for you..

Undoubtedly they would. Unfortunately it’s just not a big enough sector of the market to ever happen.

Ibis is planning to release a Ripley SL in a 120/130 configuration. Will lean more XC than the current Ripley (130/140). Release is expected around April, from what I've heard. Was unable to find out if the HD6 was going to be offered as an all-29 option.

Don’t forget the critically important and informative TR for “tubeless ready”. To very helpfully differentiate it from all the non-tubeless ready mountain bike tires that currently are flooding the market

Maxxis Digestor Maxxis Denominator Maxxis Minotaur Maxxis Mennonite Maxxis Legal Retainer Maxxis Domesticator And my personal vote: the Maxxis HRDHRMX3 Classic I also hope the sidewall tech on the new batch of Maxxis tires in 2026 brings with them an exciting new three letter acronym too, like SDC (Super Defense Casing), so I can run the Maxxis HRDHRMX3 Classic SDC 29x2.5 3C MaxxGrip as a front tire and save the Maxxis DHR2 DH 29x2.4 3C MaxxTerra as a rear tire. But that's just me.

Good call on the tape to keep an eye on things. The boys at the shop got a little creative and I think we managed to figure something out. Ultimately, the zip ties along the chainstays are a little looser and we've got a bit of extra line routed by the BB to allow a bit of movement. I'll have to keep an eye out to see if rubbing becomes an issue. All that being said, made it out for another ride yesterday afternoon. The GR4's feel amazing. I love the adjustability in the levers. The trail I rode is...

Yikes. That's just how the Madonna is designed unfortunately. You have to remove the shock and cycle the linkage to make sure it doesn't tug on the rear brake line under hard compression. RAAW build video shows this pretty well. I measured 3 times before finalizing the position and also used electrical tape to make sure the hose doesn't creep...

The rumor I was told was that every Maven lever is getting a retooling of the “swing link”, since they got so much guff for having a heavy lever feel. If anybody in here has put hands on the latest 13 speed road and gravel stuff, you’ll know Sram can achieve an extremely light lever throw. In other brake rumors, I’ve been told the other S company that makes brakes is ditching Ice Tech, going 2.2mm thick rotors, and abandoning 203mm sizing. Also, that bleed block you’ve been bleeding your 8220 brakes with? It’s wrong. It’s meant for the thicker...

This isn't anything other than a "Hope Evo GR4s are the sexiest brakes out there" post with a little side of "Profile makes the best sounding hubs". There is some dry dirt and warm temps in southern Alberta and I've got the day off tomorrow, so will report back on how they perform.
