I don’t know, a Slash+ is like 46lb. For me personally, the self shuttle aspect of ebikes is completely ruined by the fact that they all seem to descend like crap because they’re so heavy. Good luck unweighting the bike to change lines. I always feel kinda forced to just smash through whatever is in front of me with no finesse.

I can't decide if this is better described as the most haggard regular bike or this sickest crackhead bike. Love it.

The latter. Mickey's in the bottle cage fits that theme better. I've seen a few SC bikes of this vintage with flaking matte clearcoat around here (glossy finish seems to fare much better against Southwest UV rays). Suppose it didn't help mine was left out in the sun for hours in 100-degree weather during dig days, shade big enough for a bike is hardly found on our trails.

Yeah right! That said Hope actually did this. They calculated an amortized cost for the carbon bike including development time etc but then after a while they realized they had learnt so much from the project that could be applied to other carbon products and help to spread the sunk costs. So they dropped the price by £1000 (iirc) and gave a rebate to all the original customers! This is very Hope-like. It seems to me that the seat post would be the best place to generate electricity. Use the riders weight to generate power on the drop. It could charge the seat post battery as you use it. Then if you run out of shift battery, just switch the two.

I'm just about to put up my review of the Epic8 (this week) but have also extensively ridden the Transition Spur, Trek Top Fuel and Transition Smuggler (built light). Overall I'd highly encourage you to look at all of these bikes. Other bikes I'd put on the list include the Santa Cruz Tallboy, Yeti SB120, and the Ibis Ripley. IMO, there is a big difference in bike performance and feel between those chassis that are flex stay driven and those chassis that fully rely on pivots. are the downvotes based on? cause i'm talking facts here, oh let's remember the 28gr for a udh, so at the axle, Gx vs GX t-type you have ( cassette + deralieur ) 738gr vs 936gr, so 200gr of extra unsprung weight, on a total of 219gr more for t- type, now on XO is 370gr, so the huge (100gr) weight saving on the frame are not only gone but gone right at your rear axle, nice

You're overthinking this. Weight really matters, in fact its critical, if my bike is lighter than yours. If your bike is lighter than mine then weight doesn't really matter, ride quality matters more (of which my bike is superior, of course)
