Not sure if this is the right place to share but here's a couple thoughts/rumors on random bike stuff after attending the Sedona bike fest 1. All the guys that brought their DJ and bmx bikes lost to a guy that was on a demo yeti sb135 for the bunny hop contest. It's the rider, not the bike. 2. Always wondered what gearbox bikes felt when you tried to shift underload - it doesn't shift! I was climbing a not very steep road to get back to the venue on a (demo)Zerode and was stuck in gear 4 all the...

I have the logical and obvious answers for all of this so Ill get to it. 1. steroids. 2. Weak wrist probably. Thought you were shifting it was just your wrist clicking. 3. Oh no… not lever feel again… 4. Is it more or less than the Push? 5. Largest demo fleet. Size matters. 6. Just going to ignore the lever feel stuff 7. Fuck yeah! (Also just being a satirical douche. I like to bring some humor when I can. Im sure your wrists are plenty strong )

Ignore any post above that mentions sewing: for cut that does not touch the casing, there is ZERO reason to perforate the inside layer of rubber keeping that tire inflated. Just buy a tube of urethane sealant like Seam Grip for $8, clean the slash, and seal it w/ overlap of 3mm+ on each side. A quality urethane sealant is far more durable than Shoe Goo, and repairs I've made this way typically outlast the tread life of the tire. If you re-seal the tube of Seam Grip well in airtight container (e.g. 2x ziplocs) and store cool, it will...

Shops who perform brilliant service will always be in demand. the ski industry is going through the same thing. And if you ride a moto, you’ve been in this world for a while. When the service sucks, you just don’t even go near it; and tell all your buds and ladies to watch out. i think it’s pretty easy to identify that customer base, as a shop owner, see your profit and loss and know what you need to do. Finding and employing good techs can be a pain, but hopefully focusing on service and crushing it can leave you...

here's the official text and deets and stills about the video...thanks for posting, @Losifer . seeing barlett's handled like that is so nuts and the local bike park looking like a junior pumptrack is so rad to watch. such a great video from a great human! Climbing, descending, carving, jumping—shredding all ways—through diverse landscapes in a celebration of the modern trail bike’s versatility. Incredible athlete and a great representative of the sport. He's always been so kind in person when I've seen him interacting with "the public" and younger riders. He's also the case study on what happens when you take a Division 1 level athlete who has trained through college for a highly competitive sport and then throw them back into biking with that same training ethos and mindset.

I have the opposite take. I've found that wider rims just destroy side knobs - and Maxxis seem to get undercut faster than most. I ran 3CTerra and 3CGrip DHR, DHF and Assegai on 32mm rims. Happier now on rims in the 27-30mm range. OP, WT is just marketing blah blah blah to be ignored. LOTS of fast riders run them on 25mm rims.

I really, truly don't think the WT thing matters on a 25 or 30mm rim. It's a tire. If you start getting into really weird rim sizes like 19mm or 40mm you're going to start seeing some weird tire shapes but I think on a 25mm rim I wouldn't sweat it. I have a 30mm front and 25mm rear, not on purpose, just because I broke a rear wheel and 25mm is what I had on hand to replace it. It's fine. Don't stress it. Pick the tire you want. In a related story, I would never buy a Vittoria...

I don't believe that is what's really going on for a couple of reasons. 1, rubber generally expands much more than aluminum when heated so adding heat makes the seal fit tighter. 2, when designing our calipers we found that without compression played less of a roll with pad retract than you'd think. Too little compression creates sealing issues and too much increases risk of compression set. What I think is mostly likely causing what they are experiencing is super hard braking. That happens to usually correspond with lots of heat. Since seal deflection controls pad retract, if you apply...

Yea definitely not the worst as it allows for a longer stroke shock in a smaller package but even with perfect alignment, the triangle pattern of the eyelets transmits significantly more frame/linkage flex into shock verses a standard eyelet. Shocks really shouldn’t be a structural element in a perfect design imo.
