Well, I struggled to keep up with Justin Leov the one time I rode with him. He was on an old flogged-out XC bike. With a fork that wasn't working properly. And plastic soled XC shoes with the wrong cleats for his pedals so he couldn't actually clip in. That told me all I need to know.

I’d agree- dyno doesn’t always tell the full story. It’s an extremely useful tool but you must do blind ride testing as well. MTB suspension testing is incredibly difficult and frustrating from my experience.

Just to comment on the adjustment needing a 12mm. If you get an EXT shock in the US coming from Suspension Syndicate, the US EXT distributor and service center. The shock is provided with a small composite 3d printed tool that has a 12mm wrench and 4mm Allen key. Tool is tiny and weighs almost nothing, so no worries bringing it with even in a pocket.

I don't know anything about BK's background, but the guy does 3 jobs. Team owner, team manager, and pro rider (top 5 in the world). He deserves to reap the rewards because that requires a serious amount of hard work and dedication, and of course talent. Not to mention his sideline projects such as the clothing brand. Plus the guy is super likeable, clearly loves riding, and is refreshingly open and honest in interviews. It would be awesome to see him standing on top of that podium in 2024.

Blenki is a keen fisherman. Even did a thing with Rob Warner where they went out on Sam’s boat. Spoke to someone yesterday who knows Brook. Asked who he’ll be riding for this year and all they knew was that he’s been out riding a Zerode recently.

That's sort of the frustrating part with Scott. They generally make great bikes. They put a great deal of effort into research and development and as a result you get a super polished bike that just plainly performs great. But then, with their bikes you also have to deal with annoying stuff like headset cable routing and shocks that are hidden in the frame. Goes to show that they are a company that maybe values engineering a bit too much for their own good. Take the headset routing as an example. From an engineering standpoint it makes a ton of...

Lower height means a lower centre of gravity essentially. So Brosnan, Laurie & Jackson have a low COG = Turn better in science land. This all gets thrown out the window when you have Greg, Jack Moir etc who are well over 6ft with long limbs Taller riders have more leverage, can soak up bumps better, again in theory. This all gets thrown out the window when you have balls of muscle like Bulldog and Finn Isles. see where I'm going with this, In theory you can have a "perfect rider build" but I think the Cranial Matter up stairs...

Spring rate isn't really going to vary due to compression speed. The common example of a process that's assumed to be adiabatic is compression in the cylinder of an engine, which can be on the same order of magnitude as a bullet. You'd be hard pressed to create a leverage curve that was so different than heat transfer during compression was notably different between the two. That's not to say heat doesn't impact air shocks, though. Heat building up over time is very real though. Even on a 3min lap during the wet season by the time I'm at the...

It doesn't seem like there's anything "faulty" with the links though, just that you don't need the extra progressivity for your riding. Cascade are pretty clear in the advertising/tech info that the links increase progression, so if you've tried the link and found out you don't need the extra progression it's unfortunate for you but no fault of theirs.

@mcfadden999 Can you do us all a favor and give us some pertinent information regarding your experience? How much do you weigh? What shock with what settings, and which Tune Id is installed in the shock? Without this information we're all just old man spraying beta at the clouds. I am genuinely curious, while I don't personally use a cascade link on my Forbidden, I've probably had the opportunity to set more of these bikes up that your average Joe, and while your experience is not unique, it does seem to have effected you more than most. If your set-up...

What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
