My experience - - I'm 49 and have been mountain biking for 28 years - I ride for fun, mental health and fitness. Descent/gravity oriented - I'm typically injured from mountain biking 3+ months a year - Pre e-bike I was riding ~3 days a week, taking days off in between for leg recovery. Winch and plummet style riding. Sometimes...
The stanchion tubes are butted internally in certain places to allow for them to be clamped properly and to resist the leverage of a DH fork. Sliding them too far down can make it more likely to bend or crack. Also if there is more stanchion below the crown there will be less spacing between the upper and lower crown as well. Those specs are there for a reason, I wouldn't push too far outside of them. The kinds of issues it can create might not seem directly related - stuff like your headset might come loose more often or...

Why do most fork manufacturers have a max axle-to-crown restriction? Is it due to a risk of the stanchions failing or a risk of the head tube snapping? Long story short is my DH bike rides better with the increased front-center and stack height that my boxxer pushed past that limit is giving me.

Finally rode this thing… feels close enough to a DH bike, still pedalable although pretty miserable. I lowered the bars about 10mm after riding so well see how that goes next time. 41.6 lbs with tools, no water bottle… Exo+ front and DD rear, so it’ll gain another pound with proper DH tires in summer. Full 200mm boxxer- didn’t feel terribly mid-matched to the rear(165mm), also interesting the 200 boxxer is only 5-10mm taller than a 180 zeb. Overall pretty happy- will be perfect at the bike park and can still pedal occasionally.

Interesting take- I'm kinda the opposite. I like seeing the convergence of designs and features. At this point companies have to sweat the details and provide superior value to get business. I want a reliable, good value that does what it's supposed to do... Don't care if the bike is different or rare.

I found that sharp high frequency bumps were deadened. Like washboard bumps, or sharp square edge braking bumps. So this let me run my HSC a few clicks stiffer. Then in return my bike handled big compressions better. I used to sacrifice large high speed hits because I was looking for comfort in other areas of the trail that have more chatter.

I've been away for a while, so not checking regularly for a couple weeks, so I spent a couple hours trying to catch up, prolly 12 or so pages the content and tone of comments has changed drastically in the last year. I can only assume with increased users and engagement, which has brought along with it, a much more negative and judgy tone. I was drawn to this comment section for the rumours and innovation (and spy shots, and great info from the likes or TEAMROBOT, Cascade, Dave, and many others) but I find myself turned off by the...

Regarding “derailments;“ Every discussion in here is about tech and innovation. If we are discussing damper designs, rubber compounds, frame materials, etc. How are any of those discussions a derailment? Does everything HAVE to be a rumor? I haven’t seen anybody post a movie review, a story about a riding trip, or the current weather in Iowa. It’s all relevant. Funny thing about all those links people put up to discuss specific topics. Nobody engages with them. This thread is always active and always interesting. If rumors are sparse, what’s the harm?

The SRAM tech support is quite helpful answering questions about the different tunes. They've got some easy to process graphics showing the spectrum of the tunes. I actually really like the new Cxx/Rxx system, because the center of each jump in numbers in each direction corresponds to opening/closing that adjuster for the adjacent number. Smaller numbers is less damped / lighter. So center of C37 LSC is the same as C34 LSC fully closed, meaning there is a good amount of overlap between each tune. If the OEM tune for your bike is only 1 off from the generic retail...

I heard some positive feedback on them from folks I trust. Have not ridden them myself yet though. We tried this on the road side 10+ years ago, they never caught on in a big way, but the people who rode them LOVED them. https://www.maxxis.com/us/tire/radiale/

I haven't had mine come loose at all since buying it, but based on your findings of the BB exceeding the torque of the main pivot I'd assume you'd have a better chance of it staying if you waited for the loctite to fully cure before re-installing the BB. Still, it's too bad Rocky didn't solve for it a different way.
