Same lol. I've always wished for a flat pedal with angled pins so that when your heels are dropped, the pins are perpendicular to the ground. Don't know if that even contributes to better grip but I really wish somebody would test that theory.

Agreed. Unpopular opinion to have around these parts, but there's something very plumbing-esque about it.

Its a little bit comical to see the results of the Gas Gas buy a dirt bike get a free e bike promotion. That has the same feeling as the Kona buy one get one deal. When you are giving something away you are solely trying to get it out of inventory and cut your losses before sending it to the dump or a mass auction for pennies on the dollar. Also funny how when you make totally junk e bikes no one takes them seriously.

Personally I feel that most frames are overbuilt and too rigid for the average rider. After watching in person the pros at MSA, it’s clear that the forces they are putting into the bike are absolutely unreal. So a frame to a top 30 rider I can understand why they get to that stiffness level to give them the support they need. I’m a believer in that we should have a consumer spec and race spec. Right now, the Commencal Supreme V5, Frameworks and Atherton are riding the fine line of what feels good to a consumer yet can deliver...

Frame stiff but maybe the chainstay compliant, wheels compliant radially yet stiff laterally. Stem stiff, bars compliant but then only in one plane if you line up very faded little marks. Seat post stiff, but compliant seat. Fork stiff fore-aft, yet compliant in some other direction for better tracking. Hub should have instant engagement, except while rolling at which time they should have decidedly poor engagement. That should do it, the perfect bike if you will (wheel?). Oh yah, add compliant radial tires.

Im under the assumption that you do work for PUSH, and if so I want to say I appreciate you contributing to the forum. It is really cool to see the insights of companies through those that actually built or worked on developing the products. A lot more comforting too. In all honesty, Im broke and I just downgraded to a Chromag hardtail (Actually an upgrade in some aspects), but your comment alone really makes me reevaluate PUSH as a company in a good way. Not rehashing the same products as everyone else. I think thats cool. But thank you...

Now if they would bring back the old “Boxxer” and totem graphics on the stanchions we would all be happy again. But seriously. Can companies start doing fun things again? Spiral fork stanchion graphics or something just different?

On average you'd have less kick, however there's always the chance your hub is up against its point of engagement and you'd get that kick right away.

As a current St Evo owner as well as a Madonna V3 owner, the Madonna pedals 2-3x better than the Stumpy and tracks the ground like Velcro. I have a hard time wanting to ride the Stumpy that weights almost 11 pounds lighter than the Madonna because it doesn’t pedal or track as well as the Madonna. Some of the new suspension gizmos are pretty rad but it seems that they are trying to make up for poor kinematic design that comes from trying to maintain a certain design aesthetic and not from trying to push the design envelope. Trek...

I have been extremely humbled. I recently got my first mountain bike. I’ve always ridden moto and offroad type racing. (Dirtbikes) I’ve skated, skied. I’ve always looked at MTB and thought how much I wanted to do it but never really had the chance. I finally got my first MTB the other day and went on a nice mountain trail for my first time. I always thought I was in shape. I can run a prettt decent pace. I can do a 5k just fine. But wow. I realized how out of shape I was during the climb. I was...

Yeah right! That said Hope actually did this. They calculated an amortized cost for the carbon bike including development time etc but then after a while they realized they had learnt so much from the project that could be applied to other carbon products and help to spread the sunk costs. So they dropped the price by £1000 (iirc) and gave a rebate to all the original customers! This is very Hope-like. In the Uk there was/is a salary sacrifice scheme you can use for buying a bike and save 25-30%. Hope signed up but it was a lot of...

I don't want to REALLY derail this thread...but about 15 years ago I worked as an engineering consultant and ultimately spun off a small company to develop vibration based energy harvesters that were essentially tuned mass dampers. The damping was electromechanical, and tuned both with hardware and software. Our secret sauce and patent material was a mechanical means to decouple the frequency of the harvester from the input source...it could be very efficient with a wide range of input excitation frequencies. They never made much power, though...you could take a measurement or send a low power signal, but charging a...

"Which is appreciated." not, basically you either get the cc and suck it, or if you want a proper build with a cable drivetrain you are forced into buying thr lower end C or R build kit, resell basically everything that sucks, and use the frame as they just sell cc as a frame only, if more brands keep going this way ill get something old and use it forever

Time and consistency for sure would be big motivators. I've been saying for a decade that remote lockouts need to be wireless - there are big benefits there for everyoen doing it that way!

My most recent was on a Santa Cruz frame and Willy did right by me. My first ever was on a set of OG Race Face cranks. They were the supposedly "Forged." ones. After two sets cracked within the first month I said send me anything else. I got a BB and a t-shirt. The BB exploded on the first ride and I have never bought another Race Face product. I gave the shirt away.

My warranty experience was not to recent, but it was great. It was during the pandemic 2021. I had a SC 2018 Nomad that had a small crack in the inside of the rear triangle that i found when i was cleaning it. no idea how it happened. I think it was a rock strike, anyhow SC asked for proof of purchased and a lot of pictures. After a couple of days they approved warranty, because they no longer had any 2017 V4 Nomads rear Triangles; they offer a 2022 V5 Nomad which I was very happy to get. Over...

If you met someone at the trailhead, asked them what % progressive kinematic their frame had and what is the leverage ratio they would look at you like you were an alien holding a rectal probe. "I bought it because it was blue" would be their response. Normal people don't care about this stuff lol. I've tried them all over the years, from literally Regressive designs, through to 45% DH monsters. I keep coming back to 25% been my sweet spot on a coil for an enduro/long travel bike. It's my goldilocks number. What is more important, is the Ratio...
