3/22/2024 5:30pm Those of us here geeking out over this shit are 1% of bike geeks. The diaper does nothing to stop us from digging it up and nerding out over it. The same dude who almost ran you over on the way to the bike park because he had his head buried in his phone is not going to notice that there is a different idler on someone else's bike. Most of the population walks around blissfully unaware of their surroundings.

3/20/2024 8:29am It is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatigue_limit Even more so: "The concept of endurance limit was introduced in 1870 by August Wöhler. [15] However, recent research suggests that endurance limits do not exist for metallic materials, that if enough stress cycles are performed, even the smallest stress will eventually produce fatigue failure. [7] [16]" It's the cyclic nature of the loads that mean an aluminium frame will crack sooner or later. It's not a years thing, it's a number of cycles, severity of the loads and the design that dictate when a crack will start forming.

3/20/2024 6:48am Wouldn't be surprised if the novelty of bonded frames is a marketing/sales benefit over welding frames... A factor of standing out from the crowd and a possible justification for a higher price (thus possibly a higher margin).

3/19/2024 10:52am With zero press or fanfare (that I noticed), this new (v4) AXS pod showed up on Sram's website. Has anyone touched it yet? I'm a fan of the Rocker Paddle (v2), I was was kinda ambivilent toward v1 which I think maybe this is trying to emulate. I don't get along with the first pods (v3). https://www.sram.com/en/sram/models/ec-axs-podr-c1

3/17/2024 3:23pm The Frameworks DH bike blows away any DH bike I have tried. I was very happy with the Phoenix and I’m a huge fan of Pivot in general. Unfortunately it isn’t comparable. The Frameworks bike, even though I set it up as a hybrid Enduro bike, is night and day better.

3/16/2024 2:14pm Plus it minimizes or completely avoids the need for heat treatment of frames. You can heat treat individual tubes/ lugs before bonding. That should simplify assembly and minimize issues like alignment. It also open up the door to using other allows that are not weldable like 7075 IIRC. Plus it looks sexy AF.

3/16/2024 2:14pm CNC alloy lug bonded to alloy tubes makes so much sense for small frame builder. Can build around easily available tubes, bond joint be slightly away from high stress area and custom geometry should still be possible if desired depending on design. Really excited to see where this could go in the next 3-5 years.
