7/2/2023 4:27pm There is a problem that exists with super low anti rise that’s always glossed over. If anti rise is too low, the whole bike pitches forward more dramatically under heavy braking. For example, personally I think the enduro has too little anti rise because when slamming on the brakes super hard the rear goes to full extension easier than I’d like. Combined with lots of compression on the fork, it results in the thing riding like it has super steep geo. It also will pitch forward a lot when trying to creep into steep things. On a whole the enduro...

7/1/2023 7:58pm Done. Although the title has been censored, Vital don't seem to like the word 'cockpit'. Now back to tech rumours, has anyone heard anything about GT strengthening their DH frames? Asking on behalf of Roger Viera.

6/14/2023 9:29am A few things to reassure everyone on Conti tires (no affiliation whatsoever). •Like @Dave113 said, the Argotal DH SS 29x2.4 weights 1300G or 1330g, I weighted them on a scale, but I can't find my notes. •The Argotal DH has a burly sidewall and are the hardest tires I've ever put on a rim. No chance of burping (compared to their Enduro casing which is thin and easy to mount) •I got those tires straight from the Continental booth at last year's MSA WC with racer's sealant still fresh into them. They were leaving them on a thrash can and...

6/14/2023 9:28am Not sure if you are insinuating the tires that the Pivot team used last year weren't production tires? Because they got tons of good results on them so it should be believable... Have you tried the new Conti's DH tires? I have a lot of laps on them at Silver Mtn since I started using them last year and I've only gotten one flat. They certainly perform as well as any other DH Tire from Schwalbe, Maxxis, E13, or Kenda that I've ever used.

6/14/2023 9:28am Conti 29" DH tires are 1300g and seem pretty tough to me so far, good damping, feels more substantial vs Maxxis DD for sure. Argotal DH Supersoft ft/ Soft rear has great traction in steep/loose and isn't bad at all on rock and hardpack. A friend just put on Argo DH SS front (replaced an Assegai Maxxgrip) and was also raving about the grip in loose conditions. In my limited experience so far the new Contis are excellent.

6/14/2023 9:24am Loris' mechanic said in the Vital Pit Bits from Lenzerheide when asked about the Pirellis: "It's good, still need a bit more improvement to be ready to win races but... the guys want to have tires that win races." Kind of a crazy admission from someone on the team payroll.

6/13/2023 8:33am All this flex stay talk has me thinking about the tuning opportunities of flex stays. If the rear end is flexing as it moves through the travel range, then the rear end will behave like a spring.* This means a bike with flex stays will have an inherent spring rate, even without a rear shock attached. That is really funky behavior when compared to non-flex-stay bikes (traditional bikes?), where the frame movement is supposed to be as effortless as possible, and the spring rate is entirely controlled by the shock setup. This probably wouldn't feel that different from a traditional...
