"Sidekick is the first and only solution..." Gunna point out that Tairin has been doing this for a few years prior to e13. Except Tairin is perfectly silent as it pulls back ALL the pawls (or star ratchet) instead of using one to help reengage.

I'm at Leogang this weekend and wanted to get a sense of how widely pedal kickback devices have been adopted by World Cuppers, along with all the other wild accessories like TMD's/shakeweights, electronics, gearboxes, and more. So out of curiosity and as a service to my fellow nerds, I stood at the top of Q1 today and counted all the devices I could. Note that certain devices were almost certainly undercounted, like shakeweights, added mass, and fancy chainring devices like Ochain or Rimpact (drivetrains were facing away from me in the starting lineup). There were 20 bikes total where I...

Yeah, can't agree with that at all. I work on these things all the time and GX quality is wayyyy lower than XT in my experience. I'll add that the new Shimano stuff is totally comparable to Transmission, which is just the latest iteration of SRAM's wireless drivetrain. Curious why you think it isn't. Because it doesn't require a proprietary frame standard to attach the derailleur?

Ha, my Dad worked for one of the companies that first bought these into the UK back in the 1970's, I believe one of their first uses here was in aquariums (assuming it's a liquid crystal type).

Haven't seen any media on this but found it interesting that Shimano also released a battery-less self shifting electronic derailleur for commuting under the cues umbrella. https://bike.shimano.com/en-AU/technologies/details/qauto.html

Classic chains don't, half link chains however do and they do so at fairly decent rate if you are putting enough wattage through them. And then they snap. Dreamy.

AFAIK chains don't actually stretch in any meaningful way, the rollers (and maybe the pins) wear allowing the rollers to sit off-center on the pins. The plates stay the same length. (Or am I missing what you're gettting at?)

It’s easy to work on, throw away the old link, install the new one, be $300 poorer.

If you’ve owned or worked on a yeti with switch infinity, you’d probably be happy with more bearings instead

Can I patent the ole one eye squint? For real tho, equalizing the gap on each side between the sanctions and bars is way easier than aligning the stem with the tire.
