6/19/2026 3:19pm Huh. AKA how to improve shifting performance at the cost of transferring leveraged impact forces directly into your $5,000 carbon frame. I see that's something they address but I don't see how it wouldn't increase risk to some extent.

6/19/2026 3:13pm Love that Shimano is making their own Transmission-style derailleur mount. I look forward to standing on someone's Saint derailleur in the near future. If anyone can get their hands on Dak, Ethan, or Benoit's Scott, please stand on their new Saint derailleur for me and let me know what you think. Devil's advocate: I haven't noticed any excess chainslap or noise with the new XTR Di2 derailleur on my mid-travel bike (admittedly I haven't tried it yet on my long travel smasher), and most people who do find the new XTR derailleur too loud seem to find that the shorter...

6/18/2026 10:58am Is this supposed ban only for XC and gravel, or DH and enduro as well? DH rules for a long time have basically been that you need two wheels (and maybe brakes?), and that what makes it so cool. Road bike development has been stifled for decades because of the UCI, and I'd hate to see that mentality of prescriptive design come into DH. AON et al are some of the coolest setups, and limiting wheel size would be a step towards travel limits, weight limits, or geometry prescription like road bikes are.

6/18/2026 9:18am Hey, let's stay on topic here. This is the UCI 32" rule debate thread. Seriously though, that aluminum hydroforming and construction work looks really clean. It's really hard to tell where the carbon models end and the aluminum ones begin in the website photos.

6/16/2026 2:22pm You're probably right. But with e-bikes dominating the market anything over 11 speed is pointless. X0 11 spd cassette with GX derailleur (Hall locked, of course) would be the ultimate low weight, high durability drivetrain for our electronic future. I'm pretty sure they've killed off this cassette, so just wishful thinking.

6/15/2026 9:44am You do know codes existed way before guides right? The current stealth ones are the 4th generation, with the first two being under the avid name. Most dh people were running the second generation with the silver lever that was based on the elixers, instead of guides before the RSC came out.

6/12/2026 3:07pm What you are seeing is not necessarily indicative of a poor ebike market but rather, given what we know about Trek and Specialized right now, perhaps indicative of misforecasting and grossly overordering on product on the assumption there would not be an outdoor goods market correction as bad as what we've seen. In other words, they just ordered too much...

6/11/2026 3:53pm This reminds me, and this has probably already been covered on Tech rumours to some extent (at least the product), but something that I've not really seen before is happening in BC: a Chinese brand Seekrun is paying for a translator/marketing person, as well as designing engineer (who does not speak a lick of English) to travel around BC and...

6/11/2026 3:01pm Guys, I know you don't want to hear this... but the racks on that new Levo 4 X monstrosity are really cool. Those ugly Levo X racks move all of the cargo on the bike from unsprung mass to sprung mass. As forum dwellers, we should all be able to appreciate why that's going to ride better, even if the XX cranks, the paint job, and the S-works price point are all serious headscratchers. If you don't believe me, check out this writeup from Travis Engel at the Radavist on a similar front rack design that he bodged together on...

6/11/2026 3:00pm There are no words for how disappointed younger me would have been with older me. Empathy and that whole "prefrontal cortex" thing have both been pretty wild.

6/11/2026 11:15am They aren't stupid, but many top execs in the industries I worked in just don't care about long term. The "let's crush this quarter's numbers and land a massive bonus today because tomorrow, we may not be here" is the name of their game.
