No option for: I ride bikes for the non motorized experience. So I will keep pedaling. Why so much anger towards those of us that want to keep mountain biking, cycling?

I sporadically think about buying an e bike, then as I delve a bit deeper I start reading all the stories about motor replacements and other issues. The amount of used e bikes where the seller says it's got a brand new motor or motor and battery are really off putting, the failure rate is unacceptably high IMO. Manufacturers only offering a two year warranty on motors and batteries is also scary to me. No way I'm spending £5k+ on something that's potentially worth jack shit in 3 years.

I think the problem with a bike park is that you need to open/start with enough fun trails for every ability to keep customers coming back from the get go. If a park is established, it has to be way more cost-effective than winter operations. You have no grooming costs, no snowmaking, significantly less operational lifts, limited lessons/coaching compared to winter, less patrollers, no snow safety costs (avalanche mitigation), etc, etc. The problem is that most American resorts/hills only dip their toes in. They build a couple trails, riders come try them for a day, then don’t need to come...

I think ebikes are also going to challenge the bike park business. Not all lifts can take them and why pay for the van style uplift when you have a motor (I'm fascinated to hear that Finale is still uplifting ebikes as I wonder why)

I normally wouldn't engage here but needed to clarify - The european distributors are the ones carrying shocks, parts and tools to make sure you're looked after in a reasonable time frame and the pricing is often dictated by certain things outside of their control. If that makes them too expensive for you then thats cool - you're welcome to get something locally produced if saving money...

I've been on a Telum since they first shipped them and can honestly say that it was worth every cent I've spent on it. The base tune and the tuning hub are pretty amazing and give you a really really ridable shock right out the gate. I did do the rapid re-valve once just to try it out, but outside of maybe a click here or there I've left the shock pretty much as is. I'm testing a Telum right now for Vital, and I will say I'm super impressed and would recommend to anyone who's not afraid to turn knobs. The base settings are good, although the recommended spring rate was maybe 30 pounds higher than what I settled on (YMMV). The ability to fine tune the shimstacks on HSC and HSR without taking the shock apart is amazing to me, saves $250 on a retune every time I want to play with the Rapid Revalve settings. No reason not to, other than the price. The Telum is simple to re-tune and move from bike to bike and the Vorsprung Tuning Hub is a great resource. Currently running it on a Spire + Cascade Link with the recommended tune, it works very well.
