I re-read this post and couldn't understand what you were trying to say. Not to mention your response seems filled with unnecessary vitriol over someone just mentioning a persons name. Judging by your response I can only assume that you're harboring some deep seeded PTSD from him crushing you at the local beer league endubro. Which I do personally feel like that might be worth seeking some help for as it's never good to cary such such a burden mentally. All that besides, I'm glad you feel like Evil's 435 rear center is what you want in a size XL...

Aston and Cahal have their quirks but calling them mediocre riders is complete BS. Both of those guys rip. Also 435 chainstay on a modern XL mtb is a joke IMO. Especially for a frame that costs $4k.

why do you think everyone should have the same length rear center but a size specific front center and do you believe every size rides exactly the same?

I suppose we can't be everyone's cup of tea - our goal is to make the best bikes we possibly can & yes, that price is competitive. Thanks!

I'd love to try one... in a field of crab links, faux crab links and imitation crab link look alikes, this does stand out as different and interesting. As a 6'3" ish rider, I'm interested in the design/validation process that lead to a fixed chainstay size. I'm a longer chainstay type of guy, but I can admit when I jump on a pivot, I'm not thinking of how short the chainstays are the whole time. I feel like there is a riding style that is central to evil bikes that jives with slapping the back end in and out of...

Trying to focus this one the thread topic on hand, I'm willing to bet that when SC updates the Nomad and Megatower next year, they go 4-bar also. I have a Vala, a Nomad 6, and a Heckler SL, and strongly prefer the Vala kinematics overall. As mentioned above, it reduces anti-squat and anti-rise to a better level, which pay dividends in reduced pedal feedback when riding hard. The VPP design is nice for making a poppy, energetic platform, so it probably has a place on their shorter travel bikes, but I think on their longer travel enduro/freeride bikes, their...

I believe Santa Cruz when they say they couldn’t get the suspension kinematics they wanted out of VPP+Bosch motor. It’s possible a manufacturer releasing a VPP-like bike was willing to make tradeoffs that Santa Cruz wasnt. Do those tradeoffs make a difference? That, I don’t know.

Love that Forbiddens latest email pays true homage to the Crab link: "Still wondering what the f**** we’re on about with all the crab stuff? A theory exists called Carcinisation wherein all non-crab crustaceans evolve a crab-like body plan. A very clever Vital MTB user noticed how many mountain bikes brands had evolved towards the same form and linkage lay out. He declared that this new evolution of bike layouts be named the crab link. And many pages of crab jokes followed. It’s an obscure and very inside joke. But hey, now you’re in on it too." Trend setters we...

Couldn’t find if anyone has posted about this since. But looks like a new Allied trail or enduro bike? Given the BC40 is 120mm I’d bet over 160mm. Ridden by Anna Yamagucci (sp?) at Trans Cascadia. I just hope they keep that raw linkage…

Not sure if this has been posted but got a picture of the bottom of the Brosnan's Boxxer at the US Open. I assume this is what's on the Zebb too.

Local shop told me that a replacement for the Yeti SB160E is launching next week (presumably Tuesday, the unofficial launch day of new things). It might use the MT-something name. Should be 160 or 170 travel. Full power Bosch motor. Very expensive, as expected. Dentists rejoice!

This. Sram was making wheels to sell more stuff to bike makers. Why in the world would they cut the biggest slice of the pie? Plus integration wise they are the best positioned to increase that. Hell, Sram entering complete bike business makes more sense than exiting ebikes. Also, why is DJI entering ebike market so obvious?

I wonder how many people freaked out when Kaz said something to the effect of, "It's funny when people in the chat refer to Vital as the other site.. Like you can't say their name here.. We don't care if you visit more than one site. In fact, you should. Get another opinion before spending your money..." This was on the podcast within the last few weeks.

I will never forget the poor 20 year old lifty at Panorama trying to explain why the 80lb folding fat E-bikes with a 12 stack of black and chrome spacers could not go on the lift while the couple who owned them screamed at them until he allowed them to try. I later saw them riding up the hill with no helmets at what must have been 45km an hour at full throttle.
