Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
AI is good for some things I guess! From the AI-generated summary that sourced the Ursa Bikes patent app:

Lol there is an “electronically assisted strider” in under that persons name on the patent site.
Looks like he also did a lot of work for Rocky Mountain.
Something new coming from DT Swiss the 18th
Local shop told me that a replacement for the Yeti SB160E is launching next week (presumably Tuesday, the unofficial launch day of new things). It might use the MT-something name. Should be 160 or 170 travel. Full power Bosch motor. Very expensive, as expected. Dentists rejoice!
Probably the Sidekick-like hub internals
You‘ll find this information even from SRAM directly. The system is simply guessing when to shift based on an algorithm. That’s why sometimes you get some „loud“ shifts under load.
Stiffness of the shell the motor sits in is more important than you‘d think apparently. I am not a specialist but it makes sense to me since we have different power and torque numbers as well as the freedom for motor manufacturers to operate with different layouts. Belt driven inside the motor, motor around the spindle, mgu etc.
I would love to have a UDH thing for motors but peeking over to other power vehicle industries I think it is very unlikely for various, valid reasons.
It’s going to be in the hubs, similar to the ones from e13.
I'm prefacing this with a disclaimer that I've not used transmission; but does the mech not put a slight side load on the chain, and when it detects a change in side pressure due to a shift ramp coming around the cassette it then completes the shift?
This would allow it to "sense" where the shift ramps without a specific position sensor, or a cadence requirement.
No, it does not.
There are no 'sensors' measuring any sort of side loads from the chain or anything else.
This is how these daft rumours about transmission come to be. You've just made a statement that isn't based on any facts at all. Did you just make up a guess at what you think it 'might' be doing or is that something you read elsewhere?
Information on exactly how AXS Transmission works is freely available online from SRAM themselves.
Saw the new Demo being ridden at Sun Peaks yesterday
My understanding is that it has that feature where you can slightly move the pedals backwards and it completely disengages the hub so it rolls freely and has no kickback at all.
2/3 of the general idea of a Vampire?
Looks like the Lapierre, or as mentioned above, 2/3 of the vampire setup. Be interested to see what unique claims they are making that is different to that prior art.
Edit, looks like the patent is from 2022, so well before the Lapierre was released.
One difference between the bike industry vs other power vehicle industries is our size.. We aren't nearly as big. Those larger companies can afford to have their own ecosystems.. For us, if a couple of companies decided on a ebike motor mounting standard, it wouldn't take long for the rest of the industry to follow..
who was riding it? Boxxer fork and Ohlins shock. Looking very production with downtube protection
That's either the best marketplace/eBay find of all time, or a Specialized engineer on their day off 😂
I was told the bike is in production right now and will have a spring release.
Great spot. I've only seen photos of the carbon one under pro racers during WC races. This is the first out in the wild photo I've seen of the carbon production version.
Did you get any other photos? I'm wondering about the rear mech. It looks like there is a shifter with cable coming out it beside the right hand brake lever.
But the cranks are Transmission gen XO..
The rear mech looks kinda chunky... looks a bit like the chunky clutch shape on the Transmission mechs.
We've all seen a DH version of wireless axs Transmission is coming out soon but wondering if there will be a mechanical DH transmission too.
Dont suppose you got a pic that shows the rear mech?
I would guess the crank is an ebike crank.. And with more of the T-type DH setups floating around the pits, I'd be will to bet the new Demo and DH group, or groups, get released it a fairly close time frame..
Race only springs makes some stuff for forks, I dunno how expensive or custom it is though.
Vorsprung Smashpot V2 coil conversion is dual rate progressive springs for 180/190/200 travel.

This I am not sure of, just know it has three positions which you can choose from
In addition to the DT Swiss hub rumours, I heard that E13 is releasing V2 of the sidekick hub sometime soon (October-ish). Will be lighter, more refined, and cheaper, from what I hear.
Another rumour is that Santa Cruz will release a new Megatower and Nomad in spring 2026. No info on what changes are being made, but assuming similar to Bronson/Hightower.
New Transition soon? Spotted in the Woolley Fest highlight video.
Perhaps a rampage release under Hannah and Jackson?
That's the WRP zero friction internals for DT hubs you are thinking of
I have unofficial confirmation from a local shop that it's the new Bottle Rocket.
Been seen 100 times now. Even there not full sponsor riders have them. They are they new bottle rocket 180 frame full 27.5
