I've got a few things that come to mind scrolling these pics, and I'm curious what others think - Is Shimano off the back because they aren't introducing wireless/electronic Saint when SRAM just launched XX DH AXS? I get that some peeps don't like electronics, but XX DH is the obvious comparison to make, and it seems like Shimano is setting themselves up to be at a disadvantage when you consider ease of setup, clean cockpit look. You out of touch M8. Sorry to break it out to you but there's literally 10+ times the amount of gearboxes in Whistler compared to last year. Some people aren't as attached to whatever hasn't improved in decades and actually try things instead of justifying their purchase of a dated system. Kind of over talking gearboxes on the Internet, but I'll just say in the past 12 hours I put my G3 in a rack by a pub and notice another G3. I go to the office and there's another. How often is shifting under load a result of shifting too late? With a gearbox you’re able to shift at any other time. It may open more shifting windows than it closes

Is 100k actually a carrot? Hardware development is expensive, I'm certain Atherton didn't developed their gearbox bike for less than 100k. I feel like riding a winning platform is more valuable than the prize money.

Blah blah blah heard this so many times, I pedal up to enjoy my ride down. Everyone's all about their idlers, heavy a$$ forks and tires etc that make so much more of a difference in the effort on the way up, while offering much less on the way back down than a gear box. Trying to focus on the innovation here. Everyone heard that it's impossible to pedal a bike with a gearbox (mostly from those who read it on the internet or tried it once...). Derailleurs are stupid and if it takes a moped to get rid of...

Damn it if mopeds of all things finally convince the average mountain biker to actually think about not having an 1860's style rear derailleur(*) on their bikes...maybe even try riding a gearbox. *) Apparently they can be used as a step stool recently, I guess in case you need to reach stuff

As a current gen Megatower owner that looks like the shock tunnel is even bigger. Im sure it fits the big air can shocks.

It may not be a "whole separate sport", but there sure is a "whole separate text thread" for the e-bike riders in my friend circle. Now we rarely have big group rides as the crew is split in two and it's a pain to ride laps with both bike types together. So I'd say its a "whole different discipline" of pedaling a rolling thing with your feet.
