I have had a 2023 optic for a year or so. It’s a really fun, versatile bike. Probably the best bike I’ve ever ridden on flow trails because of how supportive the suspension feels and how easy it is to carry speed on flatter sections. It is a really good jumper for only being 125 mm travel. I’ve also raced...

Why are you missing out the HillBilly? I'd say it was as versatile as the HR3 - I have one on the front of my Enduro and a friend has an HR3 - they're very comparable but the Hillbilly is much cheaper and more readily available. I've also ran Cannibals and yes they do need riding hard to get the most out of them. If you're riding bike parks then the Cannibal is very good, anything natural and I much prefer the Hillbilly. Last year I did a week in Morzine and a week in Les Arcs. Cannibal for Morzine...

I’ll second the hillbilly as a front tire. I have used hillbilly/cannibal combo as well as dual cannibals for the last couple of years. I don’t have a direct comparison to the HR3, but the specialized DH tires (hillbilly and cannibals) wear a lot slower than the maxxis DH tires. The sidewalls on the specialized tires are quite a bit...

Just to spin back to the 32" conversation... Does that make the 34sl and 36sl make more sense? Even if I hate that it might? I couldn't even stand over a 32" tire so I don't see myself being able to ride one. I'd look like a 10 year old on an XS 29 in frame.

@iceman2058 just put out a 'First Ride' of Specialized's updated Butcher and Eliminator https://www.vitalmtb.com/features/first-ride-specialized-butcher-and-el… TLDR: Knob design of both models is a little beefier/deeper/bigger than before. Some slight changes in width/compound/casing options, but still the same casing and compound designs. And they're still a banging deal at $70 USD GridTrail, and $75 USD GridGravity. I'm sure the Butcher and probably the Eliminator have been discussed in previous pages. But still curious for those who have ridden the tires, are the new changes in the right spot? Personally, I think the Butcher is a solid all-terrain option. Rolls pretty fast, predictable...

I always wanted the Butcher to be a little meatier in the front and the Eliminator a little faster rolling in the rear. Sounds like that's happening with the Butcher, but the Eliminator is moving in the opposite direction? Also, the article says that Eliminator is available in T7 or T7/T9, but the list of sizes only shows it available in T9 or T7/T9, so perhaps that needs to be fixed.

long time reader first time poster here.. friends of mine are developing an vacuum bleeder for shocks and fork dampers to fully service your suspension at home, without the need of messy handbleeding. I just got the chance to try the machine myself and it works pretty straight forward. I thought i spread the word in here because i think this is a pretty cool innovation in the mtb tech for home mechanics/ race day applications etc. https://www.futureliteindustries.com/

His comments are super grounded. He just said he'd like to give it a shot. I'm sure as great athletes he could be pretty quick on a DH bike. But let's be honest, it would take a while for him to be confident even getting down Val di Sole, let alone racing it.

I didn't have a lot of time for Matt Jones before he started pumping out pre-hardline vids. Not that I had anything against him, he was just another in a sea of YouTube riders and I started to burn out from them a few years ago. But this event he really separated himself from the pack and it seemed like he massively improved the last month riding with everyone. Big fan of the vibe. Erice... Damn. Glad she's relatively ok but that's some scary shit. I hope she heals up well.

jackson's winning v10 from hardline has an STFU down low near the chainring (instead of on top of the stay like we normally see). why would you run this instead of just using a lower chainguide wheel? wouldn't they kind of do the same thing? maybe not identically based on placement of STFU, but surely a lower guide wheel would interrupt/isolate some of the chain flop to the chainring? What a way to kick off the season! So rad to see so many pinned runs, with hardly any run crashes as well. Here are the results and a couple of observations: -22 racers lined up for finals (down from 34 on the full start list, proof that this event is no push-over). -How cool was it to see Sam Hill and Josh Bryceland just cruising such an intimidating course like it wasn't a big deal? Let's not say they came off the couch to race here, but almost. -Gracey Hemstreet looked like a sure thing the whole way, smooth...
