I mean he probably is but this is by no means the only forum that calls it the F1 of mtb. It's brought up as an example everywhere the future commercial success of the sport is discussed.

Or perhaps he's signed with a Japanese sponsor, as that sort of blurring looks familiar.

We have entered the part of silly season where people float (and debate!) wild speculation that a 42 year old Dan Atherton returns to downhill (last result was 57th at Crankworx in 2018) on a new rubber band bike to chase a $100k podium. Perhaps we need an award for most ridiculous rumor every year. 🤣🤣🤣

Syndicate do seem to keep riders for a long time. If they took a second year junior, they just repeat the problem next year and so on. And then they would have to start cutting riders to make room on both the roster and balance sheet. Not that anyone in that position at any team would be bad at it...

There are 2 fundamental flaws to the enduro concept (as a commercially viable professional sport for the at home fan) that are difficult or impossible to overcome. 1 - the terrain, at least in europe and north america - the requirement for a substantial hill, one in which all the land owners are agreeable to the race and trails limits...

It's only knockoff if it comes from China. Otherwise its just sparkling IP theft.

Knockoff how exactly? Because it has 2 chain pulley wheels? Because it has a lower cage that extends and takes up chain slack and is spring loaded and clutch damped? Because it makes the chain go up and down the cassette? Because it attaches to a rear derailleur hanger? This has to be one of the weakest "It's just a cheap Chinese knockoff" accusations I have ever seen. About the only thing it shares with SRAM is it's wireless, and so when Shimano finally steps up to the plate in 2025 with their true 100% wireless rear derailleur, I guess...

Apparently both Jewetts spotted on Giants recently, as reported a few pages back. So plenty of room at PFR now for some junior females!

That part of the Alps is granite or something similar (volcanic source, hard as woodpecker lips). Grippy AF. For us Slovenians, used to limestone which is slick at the best of times and is like ice in the wet, it was a complete WTF regarding grip levels when it was damp or wet. Better than dry in our neck of the woods.

Martin was on the Atherton team back when they were sponsored by GT. Could be they're just still friends.

I've been thinking about the insertion length thing and realized that since you don't need room for the cable to sit below the bottom of the post, the extra length of the servo/etc might not be issue. Am I crazy?

For me I think this is a great idea. It is just a 4mm to get the seatpost out, connect to a usbc or something you have anyway... And it would make sure the post never sticks or get gunky. I am waiting for the bikeyoke one because I have 3 bikes that I use that uses a dropper, and I share them with my wife who is shorter than me. Getting one post with a favorite seat each. Even if it was just me I would rather have one and move it around than 3.

" In all fairness I think speed+style became a bit stale" I don't think I personally ever really got it. I love racing, I'm glued to the DH and XC. I'll even watch the weird niche things like urban eliminator. And I'll watch the slope/freeride competitions in a state of confused awe at how intricate the tricks are. But speed...

€40,000 for 10 riders at 10 events is €400 per rider per event to cover entry fees, paddock space (including power and water), plus whatever comes in the media package. Sounds reasonable to me, and maybe a good incentive to have sign 10 riders. Consider what entry fees are for your local race, and then consider how much bigger a production a world cup is. This is a way for the team sponsors to indirectly pay for putting on the race. And nobody participates in any professional sport for free. Either the individual or their team pays into the league...
