Just no lift or access infrastructure for gravity racing. The last race in 2006 had 200m vert & the winning time was 2.16.31 by Matti on his Honda... Ended on a beach though... cool...

$75k I guess gets him entry to 10 WC races, transportation and accomodation at them, (plus IXS, British nationals too?) along with a V10 (and probably a Nomad to play on aswell) and all the wheels and tyres he can break. What's that worth on its own? Thats what he'd have to pay for anyway doing it the privateer route...

Except you are just wrong. Even in snow sports, a properly executed front flip that is stomped to feet would be considered just as cool or more so than a basic straight backflip.

" but it seems like we're going to see a massive shake up in XC" always the case the year after Olympics in XC isn't it? Although last time the covid delayed games in '21 screwed with plans... so I guess I mean, is this any worse than the 2016-2017 off season? Additionally you've got rumours that Hatherley will go...

Motorcycles usually don't need to be as precise with line choice, the machine (and thus system) is heavier and needs more fore-aft stiffness, weight is not as big an issue so larger stanchions can be used, etc. Still, people riding upside down forks don't seem to have much of a problem with torsional stiffness. At least in most cases. BTW, all of this has been discussed over multiple pages before.

Please buy my DH fork that's been ridden super hard and never serviced. The oil seals don't leak because there's not enough oil left in the lowers to properly lubricate the bushings. If you can deflect a 35mm Boxxer to the point it's truly an issue, I'll be the first one to cheer for you on the WC circuit or at Rampage.

If I was selling a bike I'd say "XXXXXX" was rebuilt as a way to indicate it's as good as new, perceivably. Could be BS but I don't think it's related to reliability.

I’ve owned nearly every generation of Boxxer between 2004 and 2020. They’re perfectly fine for reliability. Have you ever even owned one, or are you just shitting on it because you saw a photo online? BTW, if you blow up that G-Out photo and hold up a ruler, it’s nowhere near as deflected as it looks. The number plate and decals are an optical illusion.

Been talked about before but now almost available to buy https://road.cc/content/tech-news/wheels-self-inflating-deflating-tyre-… From the world of gravel… Can add 14psi in a km (deflation much quicker) into a gravel tyre, would be slower for an xc tyre. At that rate, probably only plausible for xc marathon/stage racing which can have sustained road or fire road sections interspersed with difficult-for-an-xc-bike singletrack.

Does that groupset not do the job? Would you prefer the bike to be more expensive with a groupset released last year that accomplishes the exact same thing? I love how as a community we complain that novices by bike by the derailleur model, and then we also complain about derailleur models.

Minnaar retires. Staying as Team Director of Norco but that surely leaves a high level spot at NFR.

Removing that large chunk of metal/carbon significantly weakens the frame, so it has to be reinforced around the opening.

Stop this now. You are using logic and facts to explain pricing. They won’t like it. But seriously this - look at that stumpy - s-works and full top end Fox - that is always going to equal big bucks. But guess what - Specialized aren’t forcing you to buy it - there are cheaper versions of the Stumpjumer you can buy…. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve come to the conclusion that humans just like to complain regardless of facts.

Hey guys, a few people have asked why we took the pod down for a bit over the weekend. Quick explanation… I want to give everyone on the pod a platform to speak candidly. With this episode we were up against it, we only recorded on Friday morning & I knew Singletrack were publishing on Friday evening, so we rushed it out & Jack, Emilie & Joe didn’t get a chance to listen back to it until it was live. On reflection there were a couple of bits where people wished they’d phrased things differently. I was racing at the...

Couldn't agree more, so many people getting angry about misinformation and conjecture. World Cup racing has been in flux since it's inception. This is just the next change in a long line of changes. Seems to me that the main source of anger on the forums and comments sections is that it's no longer "free" to watch DH racing. But for those of use who have paid to watch the DH racing (especially the womens) has been some of the best ever. What I gather from this forum is that the World Cup should be free to enter for anyone...

So many drama queens. The sky is falling. I think the changes will be good in the long run. Maybe it's because I have been a fan since before the Freecaster/ RedBull days. I think the GCN app was good as it bundled all cycling racing into a single source and I didn't mind paying for it.
