FWIW, Jack Moir is running EX1700 rims (laced to 240 hubs). If there's nothing shady going on (rebranded 471s for the sake of looks), he's running 30 mm rims.

Probably referring to the blank port with the system controller in it, that's obviously meant to be a screen. The gen 5 bikes have been waiting for the combo system controller/screen thingy since they first came out.

I thought you were right so I built one! dropperchecker.com Doesn't solve the missing frame insertion info. But still makes it a bit easier to make a call.

Problem is, we don't have a system of defining this. There are a number of factors that affect how much drop you can run. Ive got a 210 oneup in my large santa cruz (at 6'0"). got at least 50-60mm showing above the collar. that bike could have a 2 inch longer seat tube and I would be all "slammed...

Watching the crankworx dh race yesterday. Anyone pick up on rob talking about a WC at Whistler 2026 being ‘strongly rumoured’ during Kyes run?

2 years ago some eagle eyed super nibblers on here spotted an ochain on saint cranks at a DH world cup,,,,, I figured enough time has passed that i can disclose how it happened. Am sure someone will be interested. https://www.mtbr.com/threads/modifying-saint-cranks.1237732/#replies

Or Cog-ring, if you will. The one nice thing about XD for big torquey boys and ebikes is the fact the system held up much better to torque than soft HG freehub bodies. Not only are you going to have to use the enforcer lever to get the damn lockring off, you'll probably have to employ the hammer to remove the cassette from the body after they've fused together through torque warping. The writeup says EMTB and aluminum freehub bodies so maybe they've put a sleeve or something in the mounting interface to prevent this? Kinda funny that we've moved...

Shift ramps and machining? The whole premise of Lal is to have Shimano do the hard work (the cassette) and them focusing on the rest. I'll look at the gearbox video, but looking at the disassembled case and the parts, I can assure you the guy had a few thousand euros worth of parts on his table to assemble one gearbox. Multiply that by a few samples, multiply by a few design loops to fix issues, pay yourself to be able to live while you develop it and you need probably multiples of thousands of dollars to get a product...

As long as you don't wear a team uniform and draw attention to yourself almost nobody notices, especially on work days. I rode Digit prototypes around Laguna for years and nobody noticed. That all changed when I added stickers, started telling the story, and wearing a logo jersey.

Can we stop with the pipe dreaming, people would be more likely to glue their head to the table than properly use industrial adhesives in a frame jig. Most people struggle with IKEA,

Yah, Atherton could require you to send a photo of the model car you built as a child as proof of your ability to align and glue parts! But really, those bikes are assembled in jigs in a very specific order. The prep and amount of glue is very specific and yah, it's a safety thing. Fun idea, but not practical and frankly, wouldn't save any money anyways.

Apart from what you've already mentioned, the jig to bond those together with acceptable alignment would cost more than the bag of parts of you just bought.

thats the benefit of at least the additive A series bikes. they effectively make the bikes to order, no real hardship having 3 models - regular, HP, gearbox HP (once they have been designed and tested); making the lugs and gluing the tubes in is the same for each design. its not like a conventional brand's approach where a new...

I've got a customer who ordered an A-series bike that I'll hopefully be helping build soon. One thing I didn't know was the customer is contacted and brought along through the whole build of every frame. He gets check in's from Atherton bikes every step of the way. To me, it seems to be taking a bit longer than I expected but it sounds like they're quiet busy. Interesting to see the customer side of what they're doing and it's pretty impressive to what I've seen from other custom builders.

It still adds stack height, yes; but moving the stanchion part upwards relative to the saddle rails means the insertion depth/length below the seat post's collar for any given drop length is reduced. Especially with longer travel bikes where there often isnt a straight seat tube all the way to the bottom bracket, this is more of a limiting factor...

In the PB comments, many are asking why not put the battery internal, but then you have to plug your whole bike into a USB-C charger instead of just popping the battery out and leaving your bike in the garage
