A few regulations at the highest levels of racing would help the sport and the consumer imo. For example, in American football, each team can't design their own football that spins faster and flies farther and has a unique circumference and electronic tracking etc etc. That would be ridiculous, and how would rec/high school/college teams deal with such changes? It would always benefit the richer teams that can afford new balls every month they come out. I know it's not a perfect analogy and I don't want to stymie innovation, but a semi-level playing field (such as 29" wheels being...

Thanks for the charts! When people talk about a fork being supportive, what are they talking about? Most of the support comes from the spring, obviously, but I think people often leap to talking about the damper. One thing I hear a lot is that "rockshox forks are more sensitive and comfortable, whereas fox forks are more supportive". However when you look at your chart, one thing is clear: the charger 3.1 has more support available except perhaps when you get above 2000mm/sec. Sooo.... whats up with all that? Fox fork just has a ton of friction? Spring is really...

Is it normal to have a little "top-out" Sensation on the Bomber CR Fluid Kit? I would describe it as a firmer feel when the suspension is fully extended. You feel it more than you hear it....

This video was cool because it showed how separate the rear shock and tire are from each other, despite working in series. These are the most sophisticated full suspension bikes on the planet, and it's still a shitshow back there, with everything moving at a different time in the sequence and at a different speed. I need to watch this...

I experienced the same - mid exhibited quicker undercutting than soft which is surprising. I picked up a standard tacky chan super trail soft and I'm going put it on the rear and keep the TC radial on the front. Curious to see if it lasts any longer.

Dude 13k is nuts, I feel accomplished when I hit 6. I have partaken in a voluntary lay down trail side more then once when my thighs start cramping. One time was during a solo night ride. Boy did I feel dump for MANY reasons. Took a solid 20 minutes before I was good to go.

I bet you wear knee pads round your ankles too 😂 Are contacts the answer for riding? I’ve always wondered as I’ve never seen a single World Cup rider wearing prescription glasses which seems improbable?

I’ve found a few conditions where goggles and half-shell are ideal: long dusty mellow angle days on the north side of mt hood…buddy had a wedding there and we had like 25 dudes on trail bikes. Pre-lightweight full faces but I’d probably still choose the skydiver combo today. If you wear contacts goggles can save the day… But yeah again I’m going to request a fit check as the 8th grader says…any strong mtb fashion opinion I hear, godDAMN if it isn’t coming from a poorly dressed schlub lol

Pretty much this - tried gogs w/ halfshell once. Looks as bad as lycra / watermelon helmet / robocop glasses / pinocchio shoes endemic to XC. Who really needs a helmet on a climb anyway? Full face strapped to the pack w/ gogs on, more protection on dowhills. Way better looking - even with shorts !!

Yeah, I've ridden both Goldstones and the Wolf Tooth, and the big flange on the end of the Goldstone does as you said feel like a similar effect, just less extreme. Ergon GDH has a smaller, softer flange yet.

Nothing productive to add here but wanted to chime in and say that I have the same fork and have been dealing with the same issue. Tried all of the same things with no success haha

The idea of a company that only does development cycles when they feel they have changes worth making does sound nice but you would think the new Di2 drivetrains would be better if that were the case

I have a lot of time for the approach Shimano take to product development. A lot of the new stuff from every brand is not necessarily better than what came before, definitely different, but with compromises as well as advantages. Shimano just take a little longer to decide if the advance is worth the trade off. The great thing is we have a lot of choice of quality products from a number of brands, so no great loss if the Shimano offering doesn't work for you.

It's not really a competing standard it's the same as the Sram one but with a pin to stop rotation, at least that's how it looks from the drawinga. any frame that works with the Shimano one should also work with srams and transmission drive trains. I'm not sure where you live, but there is plenty of interest in the Shimano drive trains and brakes where I'm at, must be regional differences.

Interesting! I too have the epic 9, just went out in the shed and checked, a bit difficult to see with the derailleur still on, but does not look like there is a hole there. So maybe gravel/road bike groupset only?
