the new thick rotors are so much more resistant to heat buildup that I felt my first F1 moment on 220/200mm on my large eeb: depending on the pad and conditions, I was having to drag brake at the start of trails to get the mofos up to temp! Made me feel like Han Solo. A small price to pay for pretty much eliminating brake fade over long runs. Brakes feel solved.

He was just feeling the Assegai for that race. It’s a pretty natural track that doesn’t have the top speed of many World Cup tracks so the benefits of the stability weren’t huge, so it came down to very fine points deciding which tread pattern was going to be best for the track on that day. Both tires would have been fine but there’s something to be said for almost 10 years of experience on a tire vs 1 year if the track neutralizes some of the DHX’s advantages. When I say it does everything the Assegai does that is...

I've seen it thrown around that the DHX can be used anywhere the Assegai is used. I thought Jackson had been swapping between the DHX and HR3 but then I noticed he just won (destroyed) the crankworx race on a Assegai. What about that course made him choose the Assegai over the DHX?

I'm glad you mentioned that product! I've been moonlighting as a copywriter in my free time, and working on that stem project has been some of my proudest work so far: "Imagine starting your ride, rolling into the terrain on large 32″ wheels, and immediately feeling it: the handling is on point. Every steering input feels controlled, stable, and precise...

Didn't Hayes buy the patent for the PeteSpeed (horrible name BTW) derailleur-in-a-can variant from Be One and then bury it in a drawer somewhere? I still remember this piece from MBAction https://mbaction.com/hayes-to-market-chain-driven-gearbox-system-oct-5/

WRP were still plugging away at the derailleur in a can concept last year but who knows where it falls on their list of priorities, guy seems to have a million good ideas and no time to get them all out https://www.vitalmtb.com/photos/features/sea-otter-2025-day-1-part-1/wi…

CC has a document showing which frames it has clearance for. I think they also give overall dimensions.

I’ve seen a couple of people on Instagram that have DC’d their Nomad. Its seems the biggest risk to the bike is from crashing and not from regular riding forces (Santa Cruz has even stated this themselves). So you’ll probably be ok for riding the bike but the bike may not survive an unplanned rapid dismount.

I am on a journey to do stupid things with my enduro bike (nomad 6) and put a dual crown fork on it. Yes, I know it's not approved/rated for this and I mostly don't care. There is obviously a chance I get talked out of this by the hive mind of the vital forums... but for now, I am considering it and starting to do the research. Interestingly enough, not quite all of the information you would need to figure this out is readily available and if it is, it is sometimes not easy to find. Since this is...

It was part of the press release back in april, when they unveiled the new 32" stuff. I think it flew under the radar. I've been on it for the last month, 4 weekends, 10 days, 45k vert on it thus far and it's been holding up really, really well, DH casing DHR2 MTv2. We only really have one trail at N* that actually tests the grip of a rear tire, TNT, but I can't tell any difference between MG and the new MTv2 when pulling the anchor on the granite steep stuff. I'll post a pic of the tread...
