Yeah- I can't stand the DH casing Maxxis- they only come with their sticky MaxxGrip rubber and roll SLOW. Great for lift/shuttle riding but I can't pedal them. DoubleDown usually comes with the faster rolling MaxxTerra rubber and seems a good compromise of grip/ rolling speed/ wear. I'm also having good luck with Schwalbe SuperGravity casing with Apex Soft rubber (orange stripe)... very similar to Maxxis DoubleDown. What I really want is DH casing for the rear tire with MaxxTerra rubber. MAXXIS MAKE IT HAPPEN PLEASE!!!

Most people don't need inserts, only if you're rolling tires, denting rims, or slicing sidewalls. Also worth noting that inserts won't prevent you from punching a hole through the tread, which is **really** easy to do with EXO, EXO+, or Snakeskin.

If you're 220 pounds and you're folding tires, just take the weight penalty and ride the proper tires. Bike weight is not as important as the industry tells you, and you'll get used to the extra weight if you choose to not dwell on it during your rides. I'd recommend at least DD tires front and rear, with inserts added...

Actually you can compare the two. In fact, you can compare apples and oranges, its one of the great parts of being a human. My big point here is there is an entire culture of bike lovers who have it MUCH more difficult when it comes to changing tires, and they don't seem to whine about it, and from what I've seen, they change tires just as frequently as we do. I really question what people's technique is, or maybe I'm just lucky and all the cushcore applications I've installed work awesome and literally take 3-5 minutes extra to...

Remember when XTR hubs laced to 517s was the hot shit wheelbuild? And suddenly alloy nipples came out and you could get some fancy looking shits? And your shop would handbuild them and it'd be like 600 bucks? And then Crossmax and Deemax wheels came out and they were like $800 and everyone though that was really fucking expensive. Now we get excited when wheels only cost 2 grand. And get off my lawn!

Interesting from the EWS 2018 rule book: "With the interest of keeping enduro mountain biking clean and to avoid the spirit and reputation of enduro mountain bike racing from being brought into disrepute, any cyclist, regardless of cycling discipline, who has previously been found guilty by any court or regulatory body of any use of or involvement with banned, performance enhancing drugs will not be entitled to compete or take part in any Enduro World Series event." However, the next paragraph has an option to appeal in exceptional circumstances and the EWS board can grant an exception. So there was...

Doping is doping. And is not minor. It can affect careers of riders not doping.

Specialized pants on both of them. #teamrumors2020 EDIT: maybe they're just his friend's pants, since, you know, he 'forgot his kit' or something.

My next bike will have external brake cable routing. I'll take something that's easy to work on over neatness any day.

you obviously don't ride east coast very much. in the wet, there is a PROFOUND difference in maxxx grip vs maxxx terra. maxxx terra is like ice. when it's dry i think the differences are negligible. i actually just went to a continental der baron to finally get more front end traction when it's wet.
