We promise to bring back yt back to its roots. We fucked over customers and employees and undercut genuine operators since day one. And will continue to while Marcus asks chat gpt how do I make this press release sound more business like. On that note when are the vital final form core lord merch tshirts coming out?

Hard pass. But best of luck to everyone that has a YT or is trying to get refunded or an actual bike that they ordered. Using Flossman as the centerpiece of your comeback press release is a wild marketing move.

Racing and an ambassador like Tippie both come out of the marketing budgets for most companies. Which one is going to potentially sell more bikes? The guy racing or the guy at races and other events stoking other riders as well as hyping up your brand? I might be biased since I know Brett, but he brings a lot to the table and maybe for less than a WC racer.. That article really sums up Brett quite nicely.

Their enduro team was done last year but they graciously kept me on board for this year with my contract having another year on it. Sounds obvious of course, but the bike industry isn't always so giving. The DH team took me in and I had a blast all year long, which was the main reason for doing DH at the end of the year. I just wanted to hang out with the team some more, and who wouldn't take the chance to race World Cup DH while they can. As for next year, stay tuned.

I can't imagine he'll have a tough time finding some kind of support. There is no stronger ambassador for mountain biking than Tippie.

Tippie was in NWA quite a bit over the last couple of years as part of YT events. Everything said on that writeup is true. He's unflagging in his positivity and stoke. He includes everyone and interact with everyone from the kookiest kid to the most seasoned pro. He's almost uncomfortably positive and full of stoke at times, but a brand really couldn't ask for a better ambassador. I hope he lands somewhere. Dude is a legend, and his story of climbing out of the dark depths of addiction is inspirational.

Thanks & great question - it's a longer answer than we can reasonably sum up here, but we'll do our best. Your assessment is correct - an "agile" ride character has always been somewhat of a hallmark here at Evil. We try to walk the line between agile/fun, and stable/confident. Short stays make for fun wheelies & jumps, thus, we've always stayed on the shorter side. There's a great argument for size-specific chainstay lengths - that much, we do not debate. Our rear triangles are a relatively complex mold. Molds are quite expensive. Introducing another rear triangle mold increases total...

Atherton is making exciting bikes. I'd go out of my way to check out an Atherton and make a comment if I saw someone with one in a lift line or on a shuttle. I saw a '92 Bridgestone MB-0 ("zed") the other day. That was VERY exciting.

I also saw the Ellsworth similarities and I personally would think YT USA would've been about as successful as the attempts to resurrect that brand. Why would you buy into a brand with such a troubled history when there are so many out there where you don't need to take that risk?

bankruptcy folk only have an obligation to the creditors. If the perceived value of liquidating the physical products and selling the ip at auction outweighs any offers they are not obligated to force a deal to keep employees employed. Especially if Markus is willing to overpay for the ip to keep it his. I have little doubts that liscencing to yt USA was entirely possible if Marcus had the goal of making it happen. I think it’s entirely plausible those “laughable” offers did bid low versus auctioning every physical asset and Marcus buying the ip. But they were probably meant...

I find the whole YT thing kinda boring since we've seen this behavior before with Ellsworth. I've met Tony and Markus comes off the same way, as someone I have zero desire to sit and have a cup of coffee with. A positive self-image is a good thing to have but a grandiose one is highly detrimental to anyone near the blast radius.

Not for nothing, this was exactly how it went down with the last YT USA operation. Lies, breach of contract, hubris- it all has a common denominator: Markus. There is much more to the story, but I ain't Brines, won't type it all out...haha! It sucks that so many people were affected by one guy's ego. Hopefully the crew can pick up the pieces and move to greener pastures.

yeah it's funny how as we age our interest change too. My whole youth was racing DH, Supercross and motocross. Golf and Baseball were far from interesting. Now I've had a couple of kids, a massive mortgage and half a head of grey hair my interest have shifted to the old man stuff, lawn care, golf, watching sport and drinking beer alone lol. Riding bikes will always remain, it's more the social aspect of it now. My appreciation for what people enjoy is broadened. My tolerance for dickheads and fake people has decreased. I am officially old.

From a commenter on PB: “ Everyone needs the hear the facts. Markus flossman is an egotistical freak and scammer. After insolvency there was a handshake deal for YT USA to purchase exclusive brand rights and be independently operated. Truth is Markus couldn’t stand the idea of US branch not being under his control. Continued to shoot over shitty deals, 1 year contracts, and insane royalty payments. We as a staff chose not to sign up for a shitty deal that would ultimately kill us anyways. Everyone thinks private equity killed this brand. That’s wrong. Markus single handedly killed YT...

As I get older, I’ve come to really appreciate “culture” as a larger driving force than we tend to acknowledge. You can grab attention fast with a stunt, but lasting viewership takes time, many decades, for the underlying culture to mature. It has little to do with broadcast length, equipment, or announcers. Those things help add iterative improvement to what exists, but for mountain biking to become truly mainstream, the only real solution is time. Remember, people spend countless hours watching golf, baseball, the Tour de France, and plenty of other sports that can seem “boring” at first glance. The...
