Slonschtor Added a reply to Pick your 3 favorite MTB brands?

Transition - higher end, rider-owned, lifetime warranty, stellar customer service. AirDrop - all mentioned about Transition (warranty is shorter but crash replacement is intact and proven) but at a lower scale and price Polygon - budget builds, sensitive spec Also, I wouldn’t expect any serious deviations from these companies in terms of brand/image/appeal. Transition has been long enough, didn’t sell...

Those might be incongruent choices. The brands I would pick to run/stock a shop and the brands that I like or connect with most aren’t the same. Especially depending on location or target market. Transition would be a company I like and would consider bringing into a shop. Devinci and Knolly are companies I like, but would NOT bring into an American based shop outside of Washington and maybe the upper N.E. Specialized is a company I’m not always high on, but depending on shop location, might be a reasonable main line to run. Other contenders might be Yeti and...

haha, I bought Dean Lucas wilson from that Era, This was his 2014 worlds bike. I'd like to think Stevie touched it in some way. Cool trivia is this was a mule for the 27.5 bike, proto linkage, coil boxxer world cup. Best bike I ever owned.

I thought it was very brave of Ebruner to be vulnerable and share how many bikes he and his wife have. It can be tough to come clean. We’re all active or recovering bikes addicts here, and this is supposed to be a supportive community for recovery. Or enabling rationalizations and fostering codependency, if that’s what you’re looking for. Both, really. JUDGEMENT FREE SPACE

I'm locking this thread for a day or two. Not trying to be rude, I'd actually love to jump in myself, but we've gone way off the rails. None of this ties back to the bike or outdoor industry directly. If you want to continue the AI discussion, please start a new thread, take it to X/Twitter, or head over to LinkedIn. Those platforms are built for this kind of speculation (and overflowing with this sort of banter). I want to keep this space focused on industry-specific topics. Nothing personal,I genuinely enjoy these conversations, this is just a "thread hygiene"...

Dissent Al would also be cool, the carbon one will be reintroduced middle of November but we hear you all that you want bikes we can all afford that perform, as riders we want the same!

@clivegosling I had a 297 AL Dissent for just a few months, had to sell it due to towns/jobs change. What a rig! Would love to get back on it next year. Raw frame-only would be mint. Otherwise: Vivid coil and Boxxer Base, DT FRs, SRAM GX and Base Mavens for under 4K 🥰

Great to hear! The new back end is actually being tested this week by new team riders in a secret location...This picture was taken last week at the Belgian Cycling Factory, this is Dale McMullen (Nukeproof Lead Engineer) and Steve Jamison (Nukeproof Product Manager) discussing the new back end with a new rider (you can just see his foot)!

I also want to say big respect to Reed Boggs for dealing with a frustrating situation yesterday with wisdom and class. It's got to be tough standing at the top, knowing that you have a good chance of dropping in and potentially winning the whole thing (or at least placing top 3), choosing discretion over valor, and then congratulating the winner as you choose to step away from the start gate.

The Monday Morning Quarterback session has become as much a part of Red Bull Rampage as the event itself. It’s the collective catharsis we all need after something that feels less like a sports competition and more like modern-day gladiators in the desert. We’ll justify it, theorize ways to make it safer, and question the ethics, but the event will (probably) keep going. As long as the athletes want to ride, the fans want to watch, and Red Bull is willing to provide the infrastructure/distribution, it’ll continue. And deep down, we all know what’s likely to happen someday. Like @Buckets...

First and above all else, my thoughts are with Adolf and his family. That was the most grotesque crash I have ever seen. Background: I competed on the Freeskiing World Tour from 2001-2009. In the span from ~03 to 2011, three individuals died competing including one person in Alaska at an event that I was at, waiting up top to drop on my run. That experience has had lasting repercussions on my life. There are still big mountain freeskiing contests and people are still risking it all at these events. I still watch them. Rampage Take: There is something fundamentally...

Hi all, I'm the 'Gosling' being referenced in the Bikeradar article. I had meetings in Les gets with five teams, YT being one and I'll start by saying that Gunnar Franke (Team Manager) is one of the best guys in the pits running a great team with awesome riders and staff. However we (Nukeproof) don't have the budget to go from 'no team' to one of the best, and highest budget teams in the pits when today we are not even selling any bikes. I also feel that we are not the type of brand that wants or needs one...

To me, it seems like an obvious PR move and show of good faith to say hey if you ordered a Pole and never got it we’ll hook you up with a bike. How else will you convince people to give you their money again?

With Reynolds and I9 both doing similar things as far handling warranty for CSS made wheels, it kinda goes back to earlier comments regarding warranty as a marketing tool.. Next up, someone throws out there, break any brand of carbon wheel and we'll sell you a discounted replacement.. Race to the bottom? In other news, a friend was telling me yesterday that we may be hearing Haro related news by the end of the month..
