Downtime mentioned how widespread the breeden bar ends are becoming, with people like Bruni, Pierron and many many others using them. Owning a pair, having recovered from 2 broken hands (left then right) in 3 years, I've found they definitely live up to the hype and really helped with arm pump and security of my weak hands on the bars. The bar ends are a much more interesting innovation than I originally expected, because they significantly change the biomechanics of the upper-body while riding. Stopped by the Orbea pits this weekend and they've cut grips down (pretty sure it was...

Will this finally bring the industry over to 200 mm over 203 mm?

This reminds me, and this has probably already been covered on Tech rumours to some extent (at least the product), but something that I've not really seen before is happening in BC: a Chinese brand Seekrun is paying for a translator/marketing person, as well as designing engineer (who does not speak a lick of English) to travel around BC and hand out samples of their $319 CAD wireless dropper post. It is apparently a cartridge system, and has already been picked up by S4 for Canadian distribution, as well as another distributor operating seekrun.ca. I don't think the dropper itself...

I would hate for all the TQ bikes to disappear, for whatever reason they are often to most compelling models to me. But I guess take this with a grain of salt, I have never ridden an ebike, and im also not in the market for one.

Trek definitely has a shake up coming. Next years lineup will consist of a new Top Fuel, the Fuel EX/MX/LX and a Session Sounds like the Fuel + has not gone over well. Massive price drop being announced soon to move the existing motors and batteries on hand. I really like this type of e-bike but due the power race...

Trek would be smart to pull an Orbea. Combine your DH/Enduro into one and base it on your long travel e-bike. 3 in 1.

Big changes apparently happening at Trek. My friend (- owner of a small chain of bike shops) just told me that, a couple of days ago, Trek informed their dealerships that there's going to be a lot of change in their product line-up in the near future. Apparenly they are discontinuing a bunch of models, including the Session, Slash, Remedy and Top Fuel. The way the announcement was worded makes it seem like there's no direct updates or replacement models planned for any of them. For Trek's mtb line-up, this would only leave the Supercaliber and the Fuel (EX, LX...

Name a more annoying sound than an American complaining about ebikes. Honestly, we've all heard your opinions before. We know you have them. I don't really like or want an ebike either but there are 12,000,000 whingy comments online about how you're too pure or too dedicated or too fit or too angry at unskilled riders and you're mad about it. We don't need any more. Talk about the market or discontinuation of normal bikes, sure, but complaining about being passed on a climb track or peoples ass cracks is tiring af at this point. You've been yelling about it...

Domestic manufacturing/sourcing has been been a requirement (for some products, at least) in DoD procurement since the Berry Amendment of 1941.

I have a friend who works high up at one of the big five Defense firms and he said his firm is under increasing pressure from the DOD for all of their products, components, required maintenance parts and supplies, and the rest of the supply chain to come from within the US, so as not to be dependent on or beholden to foreign manufacturing, especially in regards to potential geopolitical adversaries. To be clear, they aren't able to meet 100% of their needs entirely within the US, but the planes he was talking about featured a shockingly high proportion of...

Thought experiment: At what point does DJI offer a "WDGAF" upgrade kit? Hand throttle + software unlock for no speed limit and access to the full motor output. Yes, you'll burn the whole battery in 20-30 minutes, but if there is nothing legally stopping them, I'm struggling to see why they (or someone else) won't do something like this for "close course use". Maybe the pressure from places like this will be too much, but I know if I was 15 years old all over again I'd want it.

I know there’s a difference because it’s harder to control with bikes, but why is it such a big deal here when people unlock their hardware? I can drive a car faster than the speed limit, too. It’s the driver’s responsibility to follow the rules. If they don’t, there are penalties—or they lose their insurance coverage. It’s true, though, that we as humanity are apparently generally unable to exercise restraint at the moment. I think it’s illusory to believe that anyone will regulate themselves. As a personal experience: I still think my Unno with M1 is great. I don’t need...

I wish MTB media would refuse to review any non-Class 1 e-bike. That would rule out the current Levo and anything with an Avinox. Of course, the Utube Bros would then get all of the clicks as they would review all day in exchange for free use of Class 3 bikes. Avinox offers a UCC compliant motor now, and it's labeled and locked down. That should be the only DJI motor installed in an e-bike, imo.

I made my last post when I was generally frustrated with life. Sorry about that. Most of you are probably still not going to agree with me, but I'll try again and then shut up. I think it's really, really important our community talks about whatever these two-wheeled machines with 800% assist and enormous torque/power actually are, and I don't want to stifle that occurring in this thread. I hope this thread gets a lot of traction and I learn something about why others feel so differently than me. Finally, apologies for waxing a bit philosophical. Honor, or whatever you...
