I ride a Rocky Mountain e-bike and it has done two things to me: 1. bring my joy for riding back 2. make me buy another Rocky Mountain, a Slayer, which I also love Regarding point number one, it is my far the best e-bike I have ever ridden and it isn't about the fact that it has that extra torque, but how the power is delivered, how balanced it feels, how the motor is integrated in the frame, how you benefit from that weight that is positioned lower, how well the suspension works, how good the geometry feels etc...

It takes over 2 years to bring a frame to market. That's with perfect timing that leaves little buffer for setbacks. Of course you can take short cuts and do it quicker, say 18 months but that's skipping out on critical areas of the development phase. Ideally the industry moves to a 4 year cycle to slow down the pace...

I'm not sure this is an issue anymore but I would have told myself that Protec skate helmets aren't suitable for mountain biking, especially if you're chucking yourself off skinnies and ladder bridges in the late 90s and early 2000s. Luckily I didn't suffer from that decision but it could have been different. That might be the only tip. The...

I was discussing V2. It shines in certain situation but winter riding in the PNW might not be one of those. The Rekon 2.4 is fairly reliable, with the exception that it does pack up if there's much mud.

Seems surprising given that GasGas' parent company is undergoing self administered bankruptcy. Can't be too much budget for them or Husqvarna in the cycling world.

In the winter I switch to Maxxis 2.3 DHF/DHR tires. If you're looking to save a little bit of weight, the 2.4 Dissector is also a suitable option with it's fairly open tread design. I tried the Forekaster, but found it suffered in terrain filled with rocks and roots do to the low surface area of the knobs, and worked...

It's quite possible that it would use a magnetic connection to charge. The Reform saddles use this style of connection to power the heating element in the saddles during the molding process

oh damn, that brings back memories! was part of the OG lifecycles crew bitd (tyler was our fearless guinea pig); did some work on colin's trail on sumas (@ 15:00) - a fine mix of burly & janky. pretty neat era, in retrospect (absolutely no nostalgic compulsion to ride the sketchy structures of yore, tho).
