Hunches, yeah! That’s why we come here. Heresay, conjecture, whispers, water cooler rabble, that sort of thing. Not battery manufacturer chit chat.

GT restructuring isn't a surprise to me. The only value they brought to the market was name only IMO. Another round of Horst link bikes in a sea of Horst link bikes, geo that was too neutral/old for market preferences, spec packages that didn't align with others (even from C dale!) in B&M retail, and a BMX line that was pretty much run of the mill at best. The company used to be an innovator in product and in spectacle. I'll forgive the loss of spectacle cuz that costs serious coin, but the pure plainness of what they've pushed out...

Apparently both Jewetts spotted on Giants recently, as reported a few pages back. So plenty of room at PFR now for some junior females!

You know how rich dorks move into the cool neighborhood and then start complaining about the nightclub’s noise and the neighborhood starts sucking and becomes lame and they’re all looking around like what? That’s what this feels like. Union embodied the passion that truly drives the sport. Their whole thing was to help, not to earn. Pricing them out is not better for anyone.

Looks like he's in endura/atherton gear so while its possible, he could just be there with his pals riding while they test?

To a point. When I was working as a design engineer not in the bike industry we'd use local manufacturing for prototyping and often it was fucking pathetic, nothing like the drawing, totally unusable, and then you'd have to have arguments or pay extra to get what you actually wanted. Often the machinist "knew better" so disregarded the spec. Or you'd send your drawings off to China and you'd actually get what you asked for, with similar turnaround times, and pay FAR less. You just have to communicate your design intent extremely well, and have your drawings perfect. I work...

Yup. And they were told to not be a copy cat again before release but apparently ignored it. Copying arguably the best brake on the market and even doing improvements AND then iterating on them with more improvements is one thing. Blindly copying the most well known CNC crank on the market that is not even the best design for. A crank is just pure laziness... I was in the give the benefit of doubt camp before this release, now there is no helping them.

Okay Im out of the loop with this kind of stuff with brakes. Is there a big deal to Sram not using DOT and transitioning to mineral oil? I dont service my own brakes because I do not have the setup for it since I switch bikes. So Ive never really invested into the deep knowledge. All I know is DOT can be rough on surfaces and health as someone mentioned before.

There's no shortage of Ranges in my neck of the woods, which makes sense because my neck of the woods is British Columbia, where there's plenty of Norco dealers and the current Range makes a bundle more sense for the average "enthusiast" level rider in a two bike quiver than the Shore or a bunch of other options. I don't think you're right in statement that it was "never going to be a bike racers actually used in enduro". Maybe it's not the bike that the pros use, but roll up to any enduro race in BC and you're guaranteed...

Not to nit-pick but just want to point out that what Neko and Frameworks are doing isn't some unique "drop" model, its literally how every company using an OEM supplier works, they just inform you of quantities beforehand. Unless you pay an OEM for a an entire production line, they will make/assemble whatever quantity you ask for in batches, and then re-tool that line to make someone else's product. So for instance, Transition get their frames welded by Genie (I believe), they will make lets say 1k frames, then that line will be re-tooled and make 1k frame for, lets...

When I still owned a bike shop we dealt with Merida's NZ importer a lot. They at the time (2 years ago) had a pile of bike with no motors, they'd been stripped out to get customers going as Shimano NZ could not supply any warranty motors in anything approaching an acceptable timeline. I had a few customers who ended up waiting 6 months for the replacement. In the end we'd back ordered (back ordered as, you know... Unavailable from Shimano NZ) several motors to have unit's on hand to swap in and get customers going. That's one of the...

Given my experience with 2 XTR 12-speed cassettes wearing out in <200 miles each, my immediate reaction to that rumor was a sarcastic, "What could possibly go wrong?" More gears = thinner cogs & narrower chain = even faster wear, especially given Shimano's use of lighter weight but less durable metals on the XTR range.
