Along with not being called out for causing any incidents (so far), I mean the dude has a single finger for braking and beat hardtail guy by ~90 seconds. The rider that took the longest to cross the line was... Dak. As far as I know he caused no incidents to other riders all weekend. It seems that the true issue causing problems in this scenario wasn't necessarily the bike type, how many fingers you have, or how many times you crashed... More so what resides between the ears. And how you can use it to safely navigate a course...

I've been to Primoz' neck of the woods and would like to add that: You should absolutely go to that neck of the woods to ride if you get a chance. Primoz raced cross country for years before switching to longer travel bikes, and was fitter than me when we rode together. He's a great host and I cannot recommend Bled Cream Cake enough. However, I would not recommend eating it right before a 87 F/31 C mountain bike ride with Primoz. Primoz, I'm still right about heavier tire casings and softer compound. Fight me. Most power-based training plans emphasize...

They shouldn't need much time at all. if they're still draggy after a few rides then it's likely a seal isn't seated properly or a wrong axial spacer was used when putting on the freehub.
Honda's deraileur-in-a-box patent has recently expired https://patents.google.com/patent/US7503862B2/en. I had another look at DW's "adjacent drive assembly" patent that looks similar to the specialized and have seen that there are fillings that have been withdrawn and amended with different claims. The latest is pending with the US and has been withdrawn from the Europe patent application process, probably because it's difficult...
I think DW's patent excludes setups with the cogs concentric to a pivot, or if there is a shaft through the frame connecting them, which is the case for the demo. Whether or not it's an inventive step and should have been patented is another discussion.

This Just In! Stark Motorcycles is going to be joining the MTB world with its EBike Called the Stark “NotaMoto”. This ebike has 80 horse power and a gear box. Apparently they made the decision to join the bike industry after one of the executives said- “ I mean its all bullshit. You can buy an ebike from Specialized at the same price as our motorcycles. But with like 1/1000th the power. We should just put mountain bike wheels on a Varg and just sell it to them. Theyre just in denial that they want a motorcycle and want to...

That's a strange statement because Brembo's motogp rotors look like 2-piece construction with a symmetrical carrier and a different material on the braking surface. I hope they haven't just scaled down a motogp brake because it would probably be shit.

Because it's not just idler goes on swing arm, it's idler that is anywhere other than on main pivot or main triangle, ilder that moves at all with the linkage. It's a patent with like 40 different drawings, where nothing is identifiable or even looks like idler positions on bicycles. Honestly if it was as simple as idler goes on swing arm, I wouldn't have as big an issue with it but it is so broad, so poorly defined, and so poorly depicted in the patent, that the patent shouldn't have been granted in the first place. It's a patent...

Can someone please stand up to I track? Their patent is bullshit and incomprehensible. Hate to see big brands and big names in suspension design bend to them.

You should also call out Canfield while you are at it. Patenting three holes in a frame or a variant of the Horst Link is as bogus as Tony Ellsworth's claims.

@sethimus @Evil96 @CascadeComponents I love, like love-love, that someone with an engineering background (and seemingly a degree) and a wealth of manufacturing experience provided factual mathematical evidence, and it has been refuted by "I believe the manufacturer of this shiny new thing I bought", like conformation bias doesnt exist or something.... There's a quote about facts and opinions that I'm trying to remember here...... it'll come to me....

I use SRAM dot grease, but as others have reported in this thread whether any lube is needed is questionable. If you didn't already, then centering the rotor and pads is also important. There was a hope video that showed using a small screwdriver behind the pad that needs to be moved closer to the disc whilst pumping the brake...
I always strip and rebuild bikes and frames when they're new to make sure that everything has grease, anti-seize, and locktite where needed and the only bike where it was a waste of time was a Specialized because everything was already assembled well. My Raaw madonna was pretty good too but the main bearing lip seals had been damaged and...

For a while, half the people I rode with were on one Forbidden model or another, and honestly, those frames have some of the worst QC and overall design execution I’ve seen in that price range. Unless it’s the bike’s very first ride, they creek like crazy, and the suspension pivot hardware is borderline laughable. A buddy of mine—who posts here pretty often—ended up getting his frame replaced under warranty after endless battles with headset creaking. Forbidden eventually admitted the carbon had ovalized. No, Specialized isn’t the most exotic brand out there, but I definitely wouldn’t put Forbidden anywhere near...

TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic What does “flickable” mean to you?

2/26/2026 10:17am
I think this is a great valid question. Here's my two cents on how to make a bike flickable/playful/poppy/unstable (four words that mean basically the same thing in MTCool : 1. Shorter chainstays. This has been beaten to death. 2. Higher BB. As others have said, your bike is more stable front to back when your feet are below the axles, and less stable when your feet are above them. 3. Smaller wheels. A mullet is more "flickable" than a 29" bike, and a dual 650 bike is going to be more unstable than a mullet bike. 26" bikes are king...

But the fixed point is the rotor contact. The pads will then retract from the rotors, as determined by the amount of fluid the master cylinder pulls back. A bigger caliper piston will roll back less distance but the same amount of fluid will be pulled back by the master cylinder. The pads stop moving when the timing port in the master cylinder is open again.

In the past V4 brakes shipped with multiple sets of pads. Awhile a go it was the red (all round organic) and gold (sintered). My last set had green (high performance organic), red, and purple (heavy use oganic). I stil use the sintered out of choice because even though they're not the most powerful, they are the most consistent.

Personally I don't bother with 4 bars. I just find one good one with cheap jugs and stay there until it's time to go home. If they serve crab then it's definitely a bonus. Gotta get messy when you're getting messy.
