Can anybody comment on the break in period they have felt with regarding hope pro4 hubs? Mine seems VERY draggy. Even after 3 rides for a total of about 30 miles. Am I being impatient?

Whole wheelset was built by a reputable shop (speed vision) I trusted so I have not opened up the hub to see if something is out of place. Just curious if anybody has had a crazy amount of drag and what the break in period might be?

They shouldn't need much time at all. if they're still draggy after a few rides then it's likely a seal isn't seated properly or a wrong axial spacer was used when putting on the freehub.

Thanks for the input, kinda what I was worried about. I guess I’ll have to take it apart because yeah, it’s still as draggy after about 30 miles as when I first installed it.

Pop the cassette off and put back in bike, tighten axle. Check when the drag is.

I would agree with this. If they have excessive drag its likely the green plastic seal that seals the freehub to the hub body. They can be super annoying to install. Or there should be a washer/spacer that spaces the freehub off the bearing inside the hub body. I had a pro4 that had excessive drag and I had forgot to put that spacer in when I changed freehubs.

We have a winner! It was not the green seal (surprisingly easy to install honestly, at least compared to what I was told to expect)

It was this little sucker here, washer that sits between the hub bearing and the free hub body. Such a tiny part missing caused so much grief lol. Shoutout to the LBS that was hoarding an old pro4 a customer left behind for giving me the washer for free. IMG 0266

Dude! Charge your phone!

...and put your percentage remaining on there!

(says a guy who - only two days ago - had to turn his phone off at 4% battery 12 miles into a 20 mile ride on trail he's never been on at the end of a long riding day with gusty winds and rain looming overhead because his charging cable inside the car wasn't fully plugged in so he left for the ride with a less-than-ideal battery status)

Glad you got it figured out, though!
