My guess would be they've introduced a 17mm piston and have gone 18/17 for GR (+6%) and 17/16 for the TR (+6.5%). What is surprising is that they have decided to use the same pad (V4?) in both because the smaller pad in the E4 was one of the main reasons it felt different to the V4. It's good they've...

You are so lost in the sauce. Like 4 different people gave great explanations of how flex stays work and you dismissed every single one, but want a "data driven discussion" when you can't comprehend a literal Microsoft paint diagram. Now you don't like "buzzy undamped coil spring", this is comedy gold. @CascadeComponents Can i formally apologize for this member of the forum and please say come back to discuss things with us Vital users that don't have a crayon missing from the box.

Flex stay can't rebound undamped. It doesn't move without the shock moving.

Until they get the rotor arms orientation right they cannot be expecting to be taken seriously. And red paint? Seriously? What is this fast and furious vol.I? Oh, grimeca wants to have a word with you about that too lol. Gosh I'm so negative.

Adding to this, the heavy duty with lightning have a bigger friction area compared to the normal 2.3 thick one piece, somehow every place that sells Hope as a picture for the one piece have the heavy duty with the lightning, which makes it confusing as it’s not what you’ll get. You can custom order those and it take ages to get them, also they’re quite heavy a 2.3mm one piece sits at 222gr for a 203 rotor, the Hd ones are over 250gr for the 203

Hope's disc options are quite confusing and have changed in the last few years. 10 years ago they had one piece 1.8mm, floating 1.8mm and 3.3mm vented. Around 2018 (I think - I bought a set specifically for the EWS race in La Thuile that year after experiencing fade there in 2016) they introduced a heavy duty disc that was...

What really matters is that I believe it's aligned. As long as I think it is, it's good enough.

Sorry, super frustrating experience. I’m not looking to vent about it, just curious about specific aspects of suspension performance. On the theme of learning, where else would you measure sag? At the wheel? How would this change things?

I've found that the gravity clips with a big platform and softer shoes with grippy rubber really help with this because when cornering hard the shoe will flex and contact the pedal so you can create some torque. It also means you can run the clips a bit weaker to make it easier to pop out when needed.

I'm not sure that is correct when talking about the torsional stiffness because for a given handle bar / wheel torque spacing the fork legs further apart will reduce the force acting on them, causing a smaller deflection of each leg and a lower rotation angle of the wheel relative to the bars. This is obviously simplified but in general...
Personally I think the split positions before and after the incident should be used to determine if a rerun is given. If the rider loses positions because of an incident then give a rerun. If they don't, like the case with Hattie, then no re-run should happen. It's not perfect and still open to exploitation if riders stop more than...
Does anyone else remember the Nike Swiftsuits that were used in the Sydney Olympics? The story is incredibly similar to the Fox Speedsuit. Nike came up with a suit for runners with claimed aerodynamic benefits that was not that practicle and definitely not intended for or relatable to the average club runner and fan. It went on to win some...

The thing is, not failing is pretty low goal to strive for isn't it? Because there is absolutely no performance benefit in this orientation whatsoever. Only benefit is free advertising from us talking about most likely soon to be released brake.

I agree it's worth giving them the benefit of the doubt at this stage, if the rotors are thick it's probably fine. I can definitely think of plenty of examples where companies from other industries have tried to bring their wisdom to bikes and failed miserably. Bikes can sometimes need a unique solution, that isn't the norm elsewhere.

I've been using 2.3mm rotors for a while now and they are amazingly resistant to bending, which is good news as none of my truing tools will fit them. So, as you say they're probably thick enough to be fine.

Well there is a technical reason why everyone else does it the other way round and also past failures to support that. It could be that the rotors are thick enough now that they won't fail by buckling if loaded in this direction but I think they would be stronger the other way round.

Personally I think there are plenty of storylines and content for a boots on the ground live audio only or desk show punctuated with clips/media/info from roving reporters. Just need to see what Bex Barona managed by herself on Instagram this past wee end to believe it could work. Honestly if you got the right host/hosts I would just listen/watch them chatting shit about the live timing results rather than refreshing the stupid page myself.
