Just to add some fuel to the fire, it's long been my opinion that nobody should feel entitled to make a living from sport. If you happen to be very good at a sport that also happens to be very popular, you stand to make a lot of money, and bully for you! But that's not a right. If, however, you're very good at an unpopular sport, just enjoy being good at something. If the sport is also dangerous, you also have a risk/reward equation to balance in your head before competing. But nobody's forcing you to take those risks.

I have a Power2max NGEco on my gravel bike that is a spider based power meter which is also ideal for mountain bikes because it's out of the way of any rocks strikes. The problem is they don't make a dedicated Hope version but they do make an open source version where they provide the CAD file for an adapter...

The warranty is lifetime of the product for the original owner. The problem I have with this is how is the lifetime of the product defined? One could argue that it is the fatigue life of the material for normal use in which case it completely depends on what criteria Pivot design the bikes to. Personally, I find lifetime warranties...
Hi Joe, I really like Starling's approach of producing simple, well engineered bikes that ride great and are built to last. One area that stands out is the design of the head tube gussets. Starling's have a gusset that is positioned away from the head tube connecting the frame tubes together whereas most other steel bikes on the market use...

I have a feeling we won't see lapierre this season. The goal of their WC last season was to develop the new spicy, as the previous generation spicys kept snapping. As much as I like the lug and tube protos and belt driven bikes there's something about the twin-shock cannondale and optional high pivot spicy that the pits will be missing. The recent changes make me feel like DH is moving away from innovation and engineering and towards a rider and personality based spectacle, especially now teams can't simply field their new ideas to test them at the best mountain...

I think that when beginning training or a new sport it's important to start by focusing on becoming a well rounded, balanced athlete and then later training more specifically for a certain purpose. The best weight training for this is the major compound movements with freeweights, which is what you've been learning already in class and continuing with that will...

Apologies responsiblepirate, if it works for you go for it. Yes you may see results but there may be a more efficient way to use your time though in order to maximise your performance on the bike, that's all. What if the time you spent training 'muscular endurance' in the gym was spent working on specific V02 intervals, threshold power workouts, sprints etc on the bike? Would your benefits on the bike be better or worse? The instability comment was in regards to someone else's post so you can relax on that one. Nino's workout is pretty interesting, don't forget...

Trailhead - that list of exercises you are currently doing is pretty spot on. I'd only add hip thrusters as they build glute strength more effectively than a deadlift or squat. Responsiblepirate and Fredleth, not on the right track as much. Your time in the gym isn't best spent training muscular endurance or stability by trying to replicate bike specific positions or exercises. The best way to train for that is by riding your bike and doing so with some structure. Progressively ride longer or faster. Your muscles and cardio will improve. Trying to replicate the instability or position of...

I have so many ideas and thoughts about this. But I believe enduro is a great format, just not for World Cup broadcasting: But isn’t that how moto enduro started too. Before they had redbull helicopters, these dudes were just out riding until their arms fell off. I like the format. It’s inclusive, it’s adaptable and it’s simply hard as hell to make tv out of it. You know what ews did well tho? It generated so much content for the brands and riders. I don’t see any reason a few enduro series geo located by terrain and seasons couldn’t...

Are you sure that the two rings are not from accidently having put the pads in the other way round? Pads typically wear unevenly and so 4 piston brakes often use 2 different piston sizes or position the pad off center to compensate for that. If they have been taken out and put back in reversed then the brakes will...

Ah. Semi recently I was looking at scientific papers about damping and almost all of them said dampening. More recently I somewhere saw that what the US English says is damping is actually dampening in UK English... https://www.google.com/search?q=define+dampening+&oe=utf-8 So you can wet the soil and prevent unwanted oscilations of the tyre at the same time!

I really think the enduro courses need to go back to being big, unassisted days out on the bike and the Finale course looked like a step in the right direction. Making the liaisons super tight really can ruin a race though and turn it from a tough, hard fought day into a miserable and dangerous suffer-fest. Finale has always...

That new Fox kit is a clever attempt to take advantage of potential loopholes as to how clothing rules are worded in the UCI regulations for mtb ( see page 26). My personal opinion is that it violates the original intent as to why the regulation was written but is probably compliant to the verbiage of the rule. As this is a UCI World Cup event, I expect the PCP and the UCI-appointed TD to provide their opinion on the matter as soon as this particular kit is brought up in a managers' meeting or by another team. As this...

Don't see how it could possibly be legal for race runs given those rules. The rule about "being sold" can sometimes be waived if they have verifiable plans to sell it in the near future, but it's clearly a one-piece skinsuit constructed for an aerodynamic advantage.

My 2 cents. I don't care how many pieces it is, if the whole get up is skin tight lets not split hairs, its a skinsuit. Nuke it and bring back the Palmer days, its not a good look or a representation of mountain biking.

Because it's a one piece trouser/vest suit that is worn over a baselayer. If the the top was worn over the vest then you could claim it's a jersey but as it is it shouldn't be allowed and looks rubbish. I've also heard a rumour that Fox are a developing a new helmet with an internal peak...
