The first mountain bike magazine I saw had Hans Rey in it with the GT MTB team of the early 1990's (Rishi Grewal, Juli Furtado, Missy Giove). The first MTB video which blew my mind was of Hans doing trials on a GT triple triangle hardtail. Hans is one of the reasons why I've always wanted to ride a GT...

Can anyone with more info translate this news? Who is Chaos and do we think they’ll do a good job for Rocky as a brand? Vultures or not? I also assume this means Rocky headquarters will stay in the east.

THE LIST. Okay, here's the updated post-Covid bike brand graveyard list from this thread. Let me know if I'm missing anyone. Arguably I could have included KTM motorcycles, but that doesn't really fit. We're an MTB website: 1. Kitsbow 2. Guerrilla Gravity 3. Ridefast Racing 4. Nukeproof/Ragley/Vitus/Chainreaction/Wiggle (Nukeproof maybe living again, in skeletal form?) 5. Blackspire 6. Eminent Cycles 7. BLine indoor MTB park in Calgary 8. Pole 9. Kona (back up and running mostly?) 10. Planet Cyclery/Colorado Cyclist 11. Stages Cycling 12. Tweedlove Events 13. Teton Gravity Research 14. Fat Tire Farm (iconic Portland Bike Shop) 15. Lama Cycles...

Hey everyone, this is TJ. Tariffs aren't fixed to factory cost, or wholesale or retail. They're calculated based on the specific transaction price. The example we used is accurate for an ecomm purchase, shipped from our warehouse in Canada. If a retailer ordered the same short and we charged them half the price ($100), the same tariff percentage would apply, so tariffs would be $145 for a total cost to the retailer of $245. If the retailer sells that short to a customer and maintains their dollar margin the short would be $345 to the end user - however if...

The Hang Seng Index (Hong Kong's stock exchange) just had its largest plunge: -13.2% in one day, since the Asian Financial Crisis (1997). The Hang Seng Tech Index -- basically the region's NASDAQ, where the region's largest e-commerce companies are listed, did much worse, going -17%.

I work for a multinational logistics and supply chain management company based out of Central Europe. We had our expectations set that this would be a tough year and projected a further downturn from the industry-wide slowdown in 2024. This was in mid February. After April 2, there is now a prevailing mood that 2025 might be the worst year...

Hi y'all, Longtime reader, though I rarely post. Some context I run a small non-bike company in Sheridan, WY. We make a ton in house, import a little, and outsource a bunch to other companies in the US. We do about 40% of our sales in Canada. These tariffs will put the brakes on the entire economy. My business is well positioned to make 100% of our product in the US, which would seemingly be a boon for us. But who is going to be able to buy it? Will our customers in Canada want to buy our products at...

If orangeasaurus was really trying to fix the US debt problem, he wouldn’t let IRS agents get fired that have a 26x ROI on their salary when recovering taxes from the rich. I’ve said this before, but it’s relevant again. When the first Trump Taxes were added to foreign made aluminum, we were manufacturing bike frames in the US at GG. With the manufacturing already in operation, it absolutely hurt us, as the aluminum with “Made in the USA” printed on the bar stock went up 30% in price. These tax increases camouflaged with a different word do not help...

I’m not sure why so much focus on speed here. A lot of marketing doesn’t talk about speed. I change bikes for comfort (fit, suspension, ride feel, and pedal feedback) and for more capability (geo, suspension). I don’t generally hear people switching bikes because they are faster.

to quote matt walker in his bike check video - "if the rider isn't happy, but the data looks good, you're not going to go fast." if data were the end-all-be-all for bike design, there'd be a single bike design out there, wouldn't there? to say data X is better than data Y may be nice in a lab, but it could go out the window when dirt changes or rain falls or a rider is more forward-biased or heavier tires are used or [insert infinite variables because mountain biking is awesome].

And I have some terrible news for science-minded Top Gear fans: it's not even the same Stig behind the helmet in every episode. It's just entertainment. I'm so sorry to burst your Stig bubble.

I got a 9am text message from our regional manger saying to give him a call, he said we were shut down, and to refer to one of our HR people with any questions. We’ve got three days to get our personal stuff out of the building, and they’re thankfully paying us through the month of February so all of us have a fighting chance to possibly find work. There was no warning, no communication from anyone high up enough in the company that could make a decision like this, and little to no remorse for booting six people out...

Specialized just closed their Canadian offices and I'm not sure if they'll be shipping from the US or if they kept the warehouse open. Trek ships from 3 US warehouses to Canada.

He’s got the chain, an Ochain, MRP chain guide. All with fresh bolts ready to go for them. It’s not unheard of to go heavy on the trolling, but he’d have to go buy some of that stuff just to post this photo. I’m going to say my Zerode guess might be wrong and maybe he’s on Ari.
