I was at a dealer today, and they said that the new Sentinel was coming with internal storage and longer/lower/slacker treatment. Soonish. Also, alloy Stumpy 15 release pushed back to spring/summer 2025.

This is an absolutely acceptable (for me anyway) derail of the thread. I'd say we all appreciate the technical knowledge, and actual working experience in your post. Its the "Shimano is the only good brake out there, screw all others" type of opinionated garbage that most arn't interested in. Thank You

Get a campervan/rv and do a full road trip. Rent in Calgary. Golden - Revy - Silver Star - Big White - Sun Peaks - Whistler. Do that in the month of September and pray we have some late summer moisture and you will get near empty lifts and hero dirt with trail crews having done their post summer maintenance.

hearing that e-EDR is dead in 2025. no idea how sound, but can see that it makes sense but also that it doesn't because "e-bikes are the future of the sport". anyone else hear anything?

Couldn't help but notice they're using a different oil for Shimano brakes, i'm wondering if that's something already in the market and will be stock on the new lineup or if it's a new Shimano recipe

New Bosch gen5 motor and components due out at the end of sept. New 800w and 600w batteries and top tube integrated screen. The 800w battery is lighter than the current 750w by about a pound with more advanced cells. The motor is roughly the same weight as the gen4 with the same 85nm and 600w peak power and 2 bolt attachment rather than 3. A slight evolution, not the leap DJI and ZF are bringing to the game . There will however be many bikes with new/updated frames due to this change.

I've been riding the 11 speed link glide set up on an Ep6 motor for about a month and have found the same things as you basically. I think your point about liking it 85% of the time and being hung up on the 15% of the time that it doesn't do what you want is spot on. I get so mad at autoshift in a few scenarios: when it won't stay at a cadence I want and when it won't shift when I need it to on a quick punchy uphill. I did what you said with small incremental...

Re: the Shimano hub design--I believe they found that they couldn't profitably manufacture it in large quantities while still maintaining the necessary tolerances for the design to work reliably. Or at least that's what I recall hearing. Seemed like a cool concept at the time.

Left field innovation question. Any chance of a review on the WRC Centrehub or Zero Drag DT internals? Looking forward to the E13 Sidekick hub review.

i'd love to hear a podcast with an explanation behind every stupid solution they adopted on their bikes, especially with an interviewer that tries to talk some sense into them

If the cover works similar to the Genius models I’ve worked on, it snaps on and off quickly. The design is secure enough that I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t fall off in a crash, or just riding down the trail. Your skit is amusing. I would wager there’s a coil under there. Again, if the orientation of the shock is like the genius; it allows access to all the piggyback adjustments. Getting that rebound adjustment that’s usually on the other end? That’s probably going to be a stretch. I’ve always had this vibe that Scott engineers are in some sort...

Thoughts on this? https://www.instagram.com/loopsdrive/ Imagine if behind your cassette was a 42 tooth cog, and thats where the "pawls" engage instead of in the hub.

Longer travel Sight is 170F 160R. I presume it's replacing the Range as there has been no MY 2024 Range. I missed out on a 2024 Sight and I have a 2025 on order, There were two options (Sight 150 and Sight 160), so I asked my shop to order me the 160. I don't even have full spec yet but the C1 is much the same as the 2024 spec (GX Transmission, Fox Factory etc), but the 160 had a 170mm 38 instead of a 36, and a DHX2 wheras the 150 had a 160mm 36 like current and...

I think we may have to admit some possibilities about the group on this thread. Either: 1. We are all no longer well connected enough to score inside info. 2. The industry is in a slump and not developing product at the same speed as the previous few years Considering the lack of new product that came out of crank works I would suggest the latter but who knows. Until we get some new rumors we can either talk tech or make rumors up. Speaking of which I have one to start: Norco bikes have a relatively low resale value...
