So... In terms of triple headers, this has got to be the best venue on the UCI MTB circuit right? The downhill track is sick, the XC track nearly looked like an enduro track I saw dudes gapping rock gardens on 120/120 bikes... And the enduro looked gnarlier than the DH including a night stage (on maybe the hardest section). Not sure how many other triple headers there are, or even double headers for that matter... But wow this new venue seems to have done everything 'right'

lol. Fair. I guess what I meant was that it would be a bodge job in the eyes of Shimano, who would almost certainly deny warranty to any customer who did that to their cranks.

I think calling what that guy did a garage bodge job is insulting to both that user's ingenuity and craftsmanship and as well as garage bodgers everywhere, who would view that as far too sophisticated.

Question for the peanut gallery, inspired by this Nick Bentley pic from the other site- it seems like every Shimano team is running an Ochain on the old Saint M820/825 cranks, despite the fact that those cranks come from the factory with a very permanently installed 104 BCD spider. How do we think they're doing this? Do you think Shimano corporate is modifying the cranks for the teams, or are all the teams doing a garage bodge job like this?

How many root canal do I need to perform to be able to afford one ? Is the downtube storage called the floss box and if not why ? Is that turquoise Chris King headset stock on all build kits ? Is the LT 180mm dual crown compatible ? I am counting atleast 14 bearings counting the trunion one ? Is Yeti following SC and Spec footstep and giving out first owner free replacement bearing ? Single chainstay length on all size or they grow with frame size & the replaceable dropout give the option for longer chainstay. Most likely...

I know they had a pretty good warranty program for the Switch Infinite sliders - what's their policy for all the bearings in the 6finity links? Can you convert between the MT & LT? Any off-menu/Lunch Ride builds possible for them (specifically the MT)? 150/160 is my sweet spot, which is between the MT & LT. Mullet options? What's max seat post insertion depth for each size?

The electronic suspension/high pivot/stand up and pedal convo is the dumbest thing to happen to tech rumors in a long time. Banal, illogical, myopic.

Yesterday I spoke with a guy who rode a couple of EDRs and would always ride xtr mech since forever but he was on a sram. He said not only the chain slap was unbearable on the new di2 xtr but he would also drop chains pretty much daily, to the extend the top of his crank which cought the chain became all scratched... The shifting was absolutely amazing but the reliability is horrible and he also noticed shimano sponsored enduro pros would run full dh chain tensioners or STFUs just to keep the chain on, which is mindboggling how...

Forbidden also messing around with the e-bike without a motor to test out some DH stuff with Laurie. 'The bike Laurie rode during the week was an early proof-of-concept acoustic DH build using a Dreadnought E front triangle and a number of custom parts. It was built to get the gravity project moving in the real world, giving the team something to ride, change, measure, and question while putting early ideas underneath a rider who can give accurate feedback at speed.' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLJAPe6Hl3s

99.5% of people looking for a GT or SC would have absolutely no fucking clue what Pon is lol. GT disappeared because all they had was their heritage, and that's not enough to carry a brand indefinitely as they pumped out mostly unappealing bikes year after year. I personally don't know anyone that considered buying one in recent memory. I had a GT bmx in 2006 and really liked it, so when I got properly into mountain biking I always looked at GT. Other options were always better. I stopped looking at them years ago. If GT was successful then...

I've been riding SC frames for the past eight years, what is this "pressing in main pivot bearings"? Sounds painful. 🤔

Trust me, Porsche isn't in financial trouble. Like, not even remotely. They just strategically like to appear as if they are, for political- and lobbying reasons. Only slightly related rant: The automotive industry in Germany on a wider scale is once again trying to apply political pressure in order to achieve massive tax cuts, subsidies and erode labour protection laws. It's the same old story; They're feigning financial trouble and mass job insecurity as a bargaining tool for political leverage. And yes, our automotive sector is so large and influential that they can sort-of hold the entire country hostage until...

Genuine question - does Orbea making custom UI, bike battery powered electronic dropper, and custom controls factor into which bike you buy, and if so how high is it on the list? My answer is I give precisely 0 fucks about how the UI looks like as long as it's not shit, and I couldn't care less about electronic droppers being powered internally by the bikes battery or not. This is what I assume Jeff means by "meaningful IP". Imo, such things Orbea are innovating on are likely not high on a buyers checklist, in which geo/weight/ridefeel/power/price&value are much more...

Some of the word salad gives me Office Space vibes. I genuinely like Orbea, but as a dude who obsesses over this stuff, when I read things like "Value protection," "disciplined sales plan," and "consistency with strategic principles," I sort of cringe. The company is bouncing along the bottom just like every other bicycle company that doesn't start with an "A." Things aren't getting worse, which is good. But now that there are new kids in town and margins/sales are under pressure, it looks like they are maybe pivoting to reminding us all how good Orbea is for the industry...
