5/12/2026 12:23pm Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...

5/9/2026 10:47am nothing? they are the only ones making their own controls and the only ones integrating an electric dropper that is powered by the ebike's battery. one could say they are the first company offering their own ebike UI. everyone else is on stock controllers

5/4/2026 11:47pm Microspine drivers are a blight against humanity and should die in a fire along with the stupid plastic spacer they require to prevent Shimano cassettes from creaking like a haunted house. The only thing that might be worse than the microspine interface and its woefully anemic, made of cheese, lock ring might be the actual cassettes themselves which in the year of our lord 2026 still are half singe piece pinned garbage that falls apart and half stamped metal plates with spacers. Seriously, 12 speed shimano stuff is the most disappointing experience I've ever had with a drivetrain. I hate...

5/4/2026 7:16am Thank you all for the interest in our bikes and in our distribution / sales model. To give you a bit of context, we’re currently a team of 9 people at RAAW, based in Germany, and we ship worldwide directly from here. The US has actually grown into our biggest market after Germany, which is pretty wild considering that every RAAW in the US has been shipped individually from Germany. Our goal is, of course, to make the ordering process and ownership experience as easy as possible. Having stock in the US would be ideal, but that comes with a...

5/2/2026 5:08am I bought an EXe when they first came out and bought a second battery at the same time. Back then, you could purchase a second battery for a couple hundred dollars more than the range extender. They weren't really anticipating people doing this. You had to separately buy all the brackets to attach to the battery to attach it to the frame. I think the pricing spread has moved substantially. If you ride places where it's common to cruise back by the trailhead during the ride, this setup is amazing. I also picked up a power station on black Friday...

5/1/2026 5:46am I may need a more technical/rider based explanation of how that drivetrain tensioner works and how thats not going against the pedal kickback devices that are the new cool nowadays. An in all, a bike with this system might as well be my first foray into ebike ownership, I hope the new generation of canyon strive, that just launch with...

4/28/2026 1:59pm I feel like I can finally add input to this thread. I have just about every flavor of Maven's in my fleet and I just got the chance to try out the b1. I have a set of expert a1 (on my nomad 6), bronze a1 (on my ebike) and base that I just converted to b1's with a silver lever assembly (on my ht4 trail bike). I am also trying out a set of maven base levers with db8 calipers at the moment on a weird ultra light trail bike experiment build... but that's a story for a different...

4/28/2026 11:57am Probably been mentioned before, but any guesses what’s up with these new Shimano rotors? Hard to tell if they’re thicker, and they look similar to the cheaper RT66 rotors Shimano currently sells. I wonder if they’re messing with tuning power via different rotors/pads? Or maybe these are a 3rd party I don’t know about.

4/28/2026 11:57am Thicker and they will move away from 203… Mentioned that a couple of pages ago, where the whole 203 vs 200 discussion was going on. Some didn’t believe it back then some still won’t. Will probably trickle down to XTR, XT,… and solve the ridiculous lever throw. Some might even say they brought the new brakes out, knowing that there’s going to be thicker rotors but still have a shit load of the 1.8 ones. But people who talk nonsense like that definitely have never worked in the cycling industry & wear foil hats. And before you‘ll go and buy...

4/28/2026 12:01pm There is fun to be had at the industry right now, messing with i mproper caliper adapters to a given disc diameter that may or may not be sold by shimano at a very atractive price 🤣 I thought I heard they are gonna be 2.2mm thicc

4/25/2026 6:19am We are never going to get the adecuate thread, compound, casing and diameter tire ever again. It is hard already to find some trail rear 27.5 tires "you ride mullet, you are rad as hell, you need 1500gr tires" - the industry thinks. Multiply that by 4. Rest of the bike - components will be fine, but tires... Not a...
