"Our patent-pending Slacky McSteepTube™ design..." the hell were they thinking with that name

Sram Powertrain... Talk about hype that disappeared quickly.. I thought I had read somewhere that a new version is in the works... Wait and see?

The way I saw it, it was just Sram dipping its toes in the ebike motor market, by doing almost nothing, just to be there while they develop its own thing. Sram is used to buy a company in order to enter a certain market, but thats probably not the right way to do it in this particular case

I like the graph you shared and agree with what it's saying, but one thing to note about the graph is that it's only addressing changes in rebound speed. All other factors are held constant, i.e. rider weight, spring rate, compression damping, trail conditions, outside air temp, trail speed, riding style, etc. So, if you assume all of those other variables are constant, then this graph will help you understand how to view rebound setup. But as we respond to your original post, the hypothetical you're asking about specifically refers to changing trail conditions and trail speed, which means this...

I voted less rebound (so, faster) BUT when I live is colder when is wet, so suspension is going to respond slower anyway. But now that I think about it, if riding PROPER suspension, with good adjustable comp. damping dialled back up a bit for that slippery conditions... In that case I might end up slowing my rebound a bit...

Half degree slacker-65.5 with 130mm travel up front as standard, 625mm stack on medium, 1 degree steeper SA, guided cables, snacklebox or some such thing, 2 bottles on a medium, and hear me out, flip chip to run it as a mullet .....and lets throw in a reasonable price if we are making a wish list...

I dig this question and am gonna save it for a future pod to chat about! And on that note, we aren't recording this week or next. I'm going to be traveling so unless Lars or Spomer feel extra motivated to chat we will see everyone in Feb.

I hate to drag on the way too old coil vs air debate, but there absolutely isn't a difference in maintenance between coil and air. I've used both for well over a decade now, and it's just simply a myth. Heat shrink in hot Whistler summers and oil/grease bath doesn't last forever, meanwhile I still have one boxxer kicking around with air seals from 2015. I'm sure there's a thread for this and I have no interest in it, just not a fan of misinformation Tongue

Figured I'd share my new Levo SL since I got it built up in time for my up coming trips. Longggg back story: I rode an alloy Stumpjumper 15 the past year that weighed between 37.5-40.5 lbs depending on parts. It definitely made me stronger haha but overall I loved how hard I could ride the bike and still pedal it without blowing myself up. This fall, I kept showing up to group rides being the only one not on an e-bike. It was exhausting to keep up, and I realized I really needed an e-bike. But I love the...

Couldn't agree more! And all I'll add is wait until you see the bike that's dropping tomorrow. You might end up owning 2 e-bikes in the near future.

It's not a knowledge or concept problem. It's an attitude problem. PVD is TOXIC.

What are you smoking brother? Jan completely changed the entire road and gravel categories. Grant’s bikes have inspired an entire new and ever-growing category of alt-cycling. I can’t speak for the others but confidently going against the grain, having some kind of evidence of why their ideas are sound, and then having the cycling industry learn more and more each day how right they are doesn’t seem like a problem. I don’t even ride those kinds of bikes anymore but game recognizes game.

iceman2058 Liked a product review Affordable Excellence: EXT Vecta Coil Shock Tested

1/25/2026 5:03am
We’ve been testing EXT products for quite a few years by now, and we’ve always been impressed by their performance and “trail feel”. There were of course teething problems with some of the early versions, like the overly harsh tunes and air spring setups of the first ERA forks or noisy, clunky rebounds on the first generations of the Storia shocks. EXT has learned a lot since those days, and the current crop of products is nothing short of excellent. When the company launched the Vecta, they stated that it was built by “recycling” some aspects of previous designs...

With their new Vecta shock, EXT shows that you can cut costs without cutting performance. We've really enjoyed our time testing it! Here's the review if you want to read more: https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/rear-shocks/ext/vecta-69776#prod….

Why make 4 separate rear ends? To have the bikes ride properly. Why even make 4 different front ends if inventory drives the story. And kinematics are very much dependant on centre of gravity or the height of it. To have the same antisquat performance (or antirise), a taller rider NEEDS different kinematics than a smaller rider.
