Once you decouple the anti squat from the drivetrain with that fancy dual drive system, that Horst link setup is basically just for the active braking. But yes you are right, I was talking more about the shock linkage setup.

Sonofbovril2 Added a reply to Why are yokes sideways?

The reason Specialized moved away from this design, and the reason they added the side rotating pivot thereafter (same as the bikeyoke) is that if there is no pivot there and the shock and yoke are hard fixed together, then whenever the bike is side loaded during turning (think berms or off camber), the rear triangle flex would transfer that...

They usually do it without a clock and base their decisions on subjective feel. Whether that feel is comfort or speed or agility is up to the rider’s...
Haha, not your conversation, just my own issues. Sorry if it came across like a grumpy old man 😂 No tokens always seems like the logical place to start for me. Don’t add them unless you find that you need them. I’m a big fan of the MRP ramp cartridge personally.
I've tried to avoid getting sucked into this conversation but I'll add my 2c worth: Having a good initial spring rate (sag) is essential for the rest of the setup steps to proceed correctly for the average user. The sag IMO is not a be all and end all, but you need to be within +/- 5% of the correct...
The seals need to be tighter with an air spring to stop the air from leaking, causing extra friction. This is well known. A misaligned chassis or incorrectly sized bushings however will affect both air and coil equally. I wouldn’t say that air springs are “causing diminished performance”, I think air springs are the best they have ever been right...
